C5 Tailgate issue

Post by richieboy007 »

I appreciate the C5 Exclusive (2006) (Estate) had lots of 'bells and whistles' but the tailgate repeatedly closing on you instead of staying open is one I would like to sort out if possible.

Is it just a matter of changing the struts, and if so, how easy is this please? Do I need to remove the roof lining in the car?

Any help would be much appreciated as always

Changing the struts is the answer, it's not too difficult and you need to pull down the headlining just enough to get at the inner end but it's only held up by double sided sticky pads.

There's a youtube video demonstrating how, maybe on here in one of the earlier threads.

They ain't cheap. :(
