C5 2007 2.0 HDI
Another problem popped up on my daily hack C5.....sometimes when I start it fires perfectly but then immediately the revs drop and it chugs and stalls. It has happened 2 or 3 times now in the last month - re-starting it once or twice then allows normal running. I thought it was the fact my glow plugs aren't working because it only happened when the temps were at or below zero.....however today it wasn't that cold and it still happened. Anyone any ideas? I get no lights on the dash or any other indication as to the problem

Could be 101 things - there should be a fault stored - if you can get those it would help.

The only fault code that isn't tyre pressure monitoring is a glow plug relay warning.....and I don't believe the glow plugs are needed unless it's exceptionally cold - which it wasn't todayGiveMeABreak wrote: ↑04 Jan 2020, 20:49Could be 101 things - there should be a fault stored - if you can get those it would help.

In tank fuel pump on the way out?
Not unknown for them to play up at 12 years of age, a bit of vibration on cutting out can make them restart ?

No in-tank pumps on the C5 MK II 2.0 HDi Colin - unless specifically a DW12TED4 engine.

I don't know for sure but it has been serviced annually since new and it has less than 60k on the clock still - it has been well looked after so I would expect the filter has been changed a number of times in its life. It's odd the way it chugs at less than 1000rpm after starting perfectly - and it's all instantaneous....fires perfectly and in less than a second chugs and then won't rev or do much, but re-starting once or twice cures it
