C5 X7 front courtesy light

Post by Aidenk777 »

Morning all - I popped out my front courtesy light to change a blown bulb, it came out easily enough, but on replacing the bulb the whole housing will not clip back into place. There appears to be two metal tangs that clip into something, but for the life of me I cannot get it to go back in properly.

Any advice or a drawing would be most appreciated.

You actually didn't need to take the unit out - the glass cover can be levered off with a thin flat head screwdriver at the sides so that you can replace the bulbs.

The unit itself can be disconnected, but comes out by levering out at points 'a' in the first picture, so needs to go back other end first and pushed back up lastly at 'a'. I've included the other pictures for reference, including the underside of the roof module where it clips into.

If it won't go in I suspect you may have bent or snapped any clips if you have not taken it out the correct way to start with. So make sure you insert the opposite end to 'a' in first, then swing up the other end 'a' when refitting. Check the clips if they are metal ones to see if they have been bent. You may be able to reset them to get the module back in.

Thank you so much, that’s perfect. I’ll have a go at getting it back in shortly.
