Peugeot 5008

Post by wattsey4u2day »

A random question, i have a peugeot 5008, DW10CTED4 2.0 2010. On the partslink diagrams, after the turbo on the exhaust side, it shows a catalytic converter before it carrys on to the DPF. Can a DPF car have a catalytic converter too? My car is on 238,000 miles and im wondering if its likely to be blocked given the mileage?

Yes, there is a cat together with the DPF.

Ok. The reason I ask is because ive had my DPF flushed recently, but i feel that theres alot of backpressure still. My egr valve was new 10,000 miles ago but its making a loud raspy sound when accelerating and causes a jerk when passing 2000rpm. Unplug is and the car drives a treat! There is also what smells like an exhaust leak coming from the bonnet. Ive recently had the injector seals done so its unlikely to be those.

The one downfall with the car is that the exhaust side is at the back of the engine so i can only imagine a replacement cat to be an engine out job

Don't overlook the possibility of an air leak in one of the hoses. My MK II C5 had chronic wind (rasping noises and lack of power) and at one point would barely go. My Citroen technician friend had a hell of a job working out the issue and was going to start on the DPF - when they suddenly located a TINY split - barely visible on one of the turbo hoses. Replaced the hose and perfect.
