My understanding of them is that the earlier SMEG units do not support carplay. The next version did - but weren't available to be activated for a while and were chargeable. Then I think they needed a secure file download from the dealer to allow the carplay option to become available in diagbox to be able to activate it.
There are sources of information out there but as usual, as clear as mud! As you will need a dealer to get the secure file anyway - it might be talking to one of them to see if they have done / or will even do a retrofit. They may not, but may be able to tell you what parts you need - as this will depend on your current system and electrical wiring. Each car will be different for the conversion.

I already asked one, but they they don't do such stuff as they only switch parts; they don't update wiring.
Does the same thing as Apple CarPlay apply to Android MirroLink or there are no problems there? For Apple it might be it is a proprietary system. MirrorLink should be open AFAIK.

Could you detail how you did it for the benefit of anyone else who would like to do this?
Did you take any photographs?

Re: Citroen C5 RNEG to SMEG
It looks a bit glitchy to me - diagnostics for one - when I press the dedicated diagnostics button mine it's almost instant, but as long as you're happy with it.
Personally I don't like any touchscreen in the car (I've used a few of these on newer Citroen vehicles and hate them with a vengeance) - as it is too distracting. You have to constantly look at the screen to do simple things as the layout changes with each screen. This was awful on the C4 Cactus as even the climate control and demist needed using the screen to activate. I much rather prefer a physical button that is always in the same place, or use voice the interface.

Nice one, how is it working? Out of interest what software did you use to modify it?

That looks great! Would you be willing to share instruction to retrofit with us?swdiag73 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2020, 20:39 It is all installed and working now the video was running diagnostics with diagbox the unit is not glitchy at all

– schema to modify wiring (there are some differences from RT6)
– any wiring modifications for ESP buttons?
– any update or configuration by diagnostic needed (e. g. to make the steering wheel buttons working?)
– what does it mean "aerial base replaced for dab"
– where did you buy the unit?
Thank you for sharing with us!
