C5 A/C Compressor Replacement Query

Post by leithant »

Hi, My electrician says my compressor needs replacing, so I've been looking around for a replacement. However this has been more confusing than I thought.
If I put in my model details in a product finder I get a different unit than what Service Box recommends.

The unit in the car is a SD7C16- 1305F. Service Box part number is 6453RS for a new unit, which is what is on there. 6453RT is the number for an exchange unit.
Nissens list a unit compatible with the 6453RT which is 89362. However they only say it is suitable for engines such as DW12BTED4 and DW10BTED4!
If I put in my car which has DW12TED4 I get recommended a different compressor!

Can anyone sort this out for me please?
Thanks, Leith.

Ok, so the thing to watch are third party aftermarket supplier databases. They are generally useless.

Stick with the SANDEN part number specified and you can’t go wrong. SD7C16 1305 Is the correct one.

A link here to one on eBay Aus:

Thanks do you know if a 1305F is diferent to a 1305?
Also looking at a new one - would the Nissens 89362 I mentioned above that matches the part number 6453RT be ok?
