Afternoon all,
I've just tried to remove drivers side front wheel only to have the security bolt adapter round off! Its the OE one with the 4 little pegs. The socket adaptor part with the pegs looks ok but the holes it lines up on the actual bolt have rounded so I cant undo it!
Anyone know of a tool I can buy or technique I can use to remove it. Don't mind knackering it as I plan on chucking them all and replacing with brand new aftermarket.
Any advice is appreciated

It looks like you'll need a reverse thread socket that you'll have to hammer on to attempt to remove it Gino.
Here's Dumb and Dumber in an extremely poor quality video that may help give you the idea - although I'm not sure what condition the alloy wheel was in afterwards!
Halfrauds also do a tool - but mixed reviews as some say it needs an impact wrench to work with it...

However, contact your local tyre fitters, as they may already have the tools and it might be cheaper to bung them a few quid to do it for you.

Re: rounded off security wheel nut
I got one that was not too badly rounded with an impact driver and the original key.
The PSA ones are quite hard to get out as the centre bit breaks off, and then the flange to get hold of is very thin. Local tyre place, or one of the specialist removers is probably your best bet.

Pop it into a tyre bay, they're nearly all set up with tools to deal with this problem and most of the time will do it free gratis (in my experience).
My local tyre place took all four of mine off in ten minutes.

Re: rounded off security wheel nut
You might end up having to drill them out, as I did. Whatever you do just replace them with standard bolts. Anyone else that hasn'e done it yet should replace them ASAP!

Re: rounded off security wheel nut
Never had an issue with them in all my cars with alloys - just make sure the tyre fitters use a torque wrench and not an air gun to put them on!

Re: rounded off security wheel nut
I once had a Xsara VTS with original alloys. It had one security bolt per wheel and the key was lost (well i thought it was lost but that's an another story...)
The bolts are quite deep in the wheels so i welded 10cm steel pipes about the size of the bolt head diameter to the bolts by putting the rod inside the pipe. Then i turned the end of the pipe to open the bolts.

Re: rounded off security wheel nut
Hi guys, many thanks for the advice and apologies for the delay in replying. What a mission to fix this issue. I sacrificed a socket and hammered it on but it broke the security nut in half! Ended up paying local tyre place £80 to weld a nut on and then remove it. Pleased to say the job is now done and I've fitted 4 new generic security nuts. Defo agree with advice about making sure local tyre fitters don't use an air gun to tighten everything up!
Anyway all sorted now.

Re: rounded off security wheel nut
Good to hear it's sorted but I'd just take 'locking' wheel nuts off. They were a thing in the late 80's when no-one had alloys and if you had they were really expensive, I've not heard of people nicking them for ages.
