Hi
There seam to be loads of Chinese Turbos on eBay. I probably need one for the 110bhp 1.6 HDI.
My gut feeling is for £120 leave well alone.
Any feedback?

I would avoid like the plague if it were me. Your turbo is essential and I would consider either a new one, an exchange replacement or getting it repaired - depending on what the issue is. Getting a Garrett replacement should give you some reassurance of quality whereas a tin foil jobby from the Far East may be a waste of money with no comeback.

If I remove before it goes bang, where is the best place to send off for repair? Any idea of cost?

Re: Chinese Turbos on eBay
You don't have a location (even a rough one) in your < profile, so not much help - but if you Google turbo repairs there are plenty coming up all over the country - Garrett do have their own recommended repairers:
You can put your location in here to see what's near to you:

I'll see if I can find a link but I did find a UK based exchange place that would be £260 for the turbo for the 1.6HDi C4 GP I had.

Hi
Did you remove and replace yourself?
Did you also take the sump off, clean the oil pickup. Replace the pickup pipe, replace turbo seals and clean/replace the strainer in the oil pickup?
Cheers

No. I decided I hated the car and bought a Skoda Octavia instead.ldare2000 wrote: 03 Dec 2019, 06:33 Hi
