Mileages!

Post by Gibbo2286 »

I've been looking at what's offered in the small car range, thinking it's time to be a bit more sensible about what I drive, don't really have a good reason for using a huge C5 diesel estate any more..

I've had a look at cars like Nissan Note, Mazda2 or 3 and Suzuki Swift.

What's astonished me is the mileage some of these cars have done, some are claimed to be 'low mileage' with a 100k on the clock, one listed on Ebay 5 years old had the miles as 0 in the listing, a check on the MOT register says the miles at the last MOT was over 199,000

A careful look at the low mileage ones often shows why, they're repaired write offs and haven't done the miles because they've been sitting around in salvage yards for months/years waiting for someone to come along and glue them back together.

Does your temporary Corsa not fit the bill Gibbo? Or are you after something a bit bigger/more comfortable/more modern?

I really need a five door and little higher horsepower than the Corsa Neil, the 1.5 diesel Nissan Note looks ideal but there aren't any local to me, at my price. :) plenty 'oop north'.

Gibbo,

So why are this lot able to undercut the rest on the price of well-presented cars? Nissan Note's like this for example.

Plenty of bumf in the "about us" tab, but basically they buy in "bulk" from finance house reposession auctions, and sell on-line and deliver to your door max of 5 days later.

Interesting to have your own critical eye run over their modus operandi.

Mileage seems to mean little these days. This 57 plate Octavia I have has 191k on it, and it drives and pulls like new. The interior isn't worn at all, and it all works! Amazing really.

Done. Seemed there was something not quite right, which is why I asked for your critical eye!
