TESLA Cyber Truck
The Americans love their pick ups. TESLA's take on the pick-up is definitely a head turner and looks nothing like a Ford Ranger. Interesting or awful?
Rival Rivian's Electric Pickup looks a bit more conventional, but will buyers prepared to spend large sums on such a vehicle be looking for the TESLA edge-i-ness literally to stand out from the crowd
Regards Neil

Of course everyone needs armoured glass for protection from 9mm bullets as they are an everyday occurrence.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Looks as though there are as many charging points in Dubai as in the UK.

Doesn't seem very practical not much room in back, this is a good selling point for truck but what do I know?

And I thought there were regulations about bumper heights and shapes, pedestrian protection . . .

There used to be but that was abandoned a few years back as being unworkable. Like their silly sealed beam nonsense.white exec wrote: ↑24 Nov 2019, 21:18 And I thought there were regulations about bumper heights and shapes, pedestrian protection . . .

Re: TESLA Cyber Truck
So you can now have a sharp-edged front end (bumper) at "knee height".....? Does that apply to EU as well?

Re: TESLA Cyber Truck
Everyone here knows I like Tesla's however I have to say when I saw the reveal my reaction was "What has Elon been smoking?" Not just during the design phase, but also just prior to the event as he seemed to be literally high on something....
Hideously ugly and I can't see who it will appeal to except perhaps Arnold Schwarzenegger who currently drives a Hummer and an electric conversion of a Mercedes G-Wagon.
I'm not a truck person anyway but I just don't get it... The Rivian and even the (somewhat expensive) Bollinger trucks look much more practical. Maybe the US military will be interested in it as the basis of an armoured combat vehicle ?
As for the smashing windows - I've seen a clip on twitter that showed them doing the exact same test back stage a few hours earlier and the ball bounced off the window without breaking it. The window also "bounced" a lot as the ball hit it so my theory is that the edge of the glass was unsupported (window down slightly or not fully fitted into the car) during the initial testing giving it some flexibility on impact but when they tried it on stage the window may have been securely attached to the rigid door frame and so wasn't able to absorb any shock by flexing, thus cracked. There didn't seem to be any "give" in the window during the onstage smash.
Thumbs down from me and they're right to be ridiculed over this one.... It's literally just an Elon Musk fever dream made real with nobody apparently able to say no to him or talk him down from it...

Re: TESLA Cyber Truck
That's correct. They even made a special sealed beam headlamp into which was fitted a replaceable halogen bulb!

Re: TESLA Cyber Truck
Apparently the sledgehammer hit cracked the bottom of the glass inside the door frame hence why the ball cracked it, as they didn't do the sledgehammer hit in the test before the event. In the words of Elon in the tweet above:
"Should have done steel ball on window, *then* sledgehammer the door. Next time …"
Here was the before test where it didn't break:

As said, there's no such thing as bad publicity. (Although ask gadabout Andrew... )
For me, it remains a film-set monstrosity.
