DD-WRT Router Firmware. Just spent the past 24 hours flashing, configuring, wiping and general cursing after it trashed one of my routers. I spent the other half a day recovering the stock firmware and reconfiguring that again after it bricked my router.

I have nothing positive to say about it whatsoever except I would love to meet the tw*t who wrote the guide in the ring for 10 rounds as it was completely wrong.

The only positive thing to come out of it is a few new cursing words that I won't repeat.

Pleased that our humble little room 101 could be of service Marc...the process of ceremonial depositing can act as a useful pressure release valve!

I'm depositing "licence to print money jobs and services".

I can think of quite a few

Currrent one is "install a new gas cooker" and there are always those charges for plugging in a machine to the obd port and a minute later putting a line on an invoice for....well last one I ever did was £65 at Vauxhall dealer about 10 years ago.

Of course legal and financial services are the past masters with their arrangement fees, and fees for changes to insurance policies/leases/tenancy agreements etc etc.

I remember coming across a copy of a solicitors bill in a book of absurd invoices. It read

TO:
On seeing the client across the road I crossed to discuss the days developments in the case...............................................£35.00
On discovering it was not my client and having to recross the road....................................................................................£35.00

You couldn't make it up!!!

Pleased Room 101 could be of service Dan but looks like the video has been put into the wrong category on youtube. Cant imagine you find it the least bit funny. Criminal damage/ dangerous driving/ stolen vehicle/ no insurance all pretty likely and quite where that leaves the no-fault victims like yourself, your own insurance and compensation, will no doubt be part of the sorting out nightmare. Hope it can be resolved quickly and to your full satisfaction.

Oh, no. It was a deliberate categorisation on my part since it's sort-of hilarious that people still think they can get away with not stopping in this day & age where there's always somebody watching somewhere...

The trail of damage through our estate, and the hideous manner of driving, are certainly anything but amusing but thankfully nobody was hurt by this maniac and the car comes back as insured so it's a lot better than it could've been. (Initially I had a panic last night as I'd checked the vehicle reg and it came back to a white Ford Transit but then I realised I'd got a letter wrong in my state of rushed confusion!). Just sorting out letters to the insurers now, the plucky little 206 though is doing a faithful impersonation of an original Citroen DS as it's sat on the driveway on 3 wheels holding it's rear end up to the point it can still even be moved around under it's own power...

Hard to believe that nothing has got on anyone's wick enough to make a deposit here since November.

Well for me........my deposit is going to be "The Main Dealer Experience"

Great thing about the FCF room 101...there's no need for a long justification, just shove something in. No jury to decide on the merits of whether its in out or out. Its a purely a personal choice.
Good job its in Room 101, as today I heard another one of those "maindealer" tales that just make you cringe. There are loads of people who drive cars who happily dont know anything about them, and dont want to know anything about them. When something goes wrong with their car and its a Citroen they troop into the Citroen dealer and hope to get it fixed.

So the problem this lady we know had was....one day the boot on her Citroen Pluriel opened, the next it didnt.
She tried two "maindealers" without success greeted with "its a 15 year old car you know, we probably wont be able to get the parts, and we may not even be able to do a diagnostic test. Might be a sensor in the convertible roof cant be sure." Not the usual ripping off sort of tale, more the we dont want the job sort of tale. Few hours work plus parts and its more than the car is worth.

After a couple of months in the UK she will be driving back home to Italy and my advice was to manage with folding down the seats and loading the boot up from the car and getting her usual family firm garage to sort it out when she was back in Italy.

Now that you've reminded me Neil there is one thing for Room 101 from me.
The way Youtube has started randomly slapping ads into videos at any point, even mid word sometimes.
They have been doing it for ages but it seems to be getting more prolific these days and its ****** annoying!!!.

I'm no 'YouTube' Guru, but doesn't this depend on whether the poster has decided to 'monetise' their channel? Some channels are essentially not watchable because of this as they're constantly putting ads in every 20 seconds or so, - yet other videos from other channels have no ads at all - even for videos that can be an hour or more long. So I think this has to be down to the channel owner. Bigger idiots them as they will lose revenues by people not watching their channels if they are greedy.

I have a blacklist now of channels I won't watch now if I know they are heavily monetised as I can't be ar*ed to wear out my remote control constantly skipping ads.

So I think you would have to bung the actual 'YouTuber' into room 101 too Mick :-D
