Mad BX Weekend........

Plenty of BX fun round at my house this weekend. Plan was to transfer all the good bits from my departed maroon BX to my shiny grey BX (that had a rattly engine).
Dave Bamber (pictured) drove all the way from Blackpool on the Friday, and ahem, after a few beers the lump was out of the maroon car on Friday night.
On Saturday Tom Sheppard and David M drove up from Southampton, and thanks to them both, in particular to Tom for his sterling work on the bottom engine mounting.
We had a problem on the grey car in that the n/s rack gaiter was gone. It also looked like there was some pitting to the rack, so we had to swap the steering rack out of the other car. That all went quite smoothly, then the replacement engine and gearbox was ready to go back in, complete with new bottom engine mount, diff seals and exhaust ring.We also fitted a new octopus whilst it was all nice and easy to get to.
After a bit of struggling the engine and box all went back in.
On the Sunday we finished the job off, and scrapped the other car. Mike G then turned up in his BX for a visit, and we fixed his wiper problem. We then turned our attention to the spheres and HP pump on Dave's BX, and got that all nice and smooth.
All in all a fine weekends BXing, and Dave Bamber gets Star of the Year award for all of his hard work.[:)]

I was too busy getting the beers out of the fridge and taking the pictures to actually get my own hands dirty![;)]

what was wrong with the maroon one? didn't you just spend a long time getting it up to scratch?

The paint on the roof and bonnet was a mess, the rear panel behind the bumper turned out to be heavily corroded, oh and I had a bit of a coming together which bent the front panel and crossmember.....so when the silver car (perfect bodily but with rattly little ends) came up for grabs from Tom, I decided to use my known good engine and box and put them in the silver car.
Result is the perfect BX (I think)[:o)]

That HUGE 'white' pipe pictured coming out by the turbo in the second picture, is that a standard fitment?
If so does anyone have one? (i assume it goes to the heater?) that could be really really useful as i have a non reinforced non insulated one kind of tied to the bulk head, and i dont give it much time before death. Having seen that, im not so unsure about Citroen's choice of pipe, it would seem i may simply have the wrong one!

Vanny, that "huge white pipe" is one of the legendary braided hoses and goes to the matrix (lower connection). I have got a couple of spares if required.

MARTY Looks like a live one, note the vehicles parked around it, I suppose a northern BX madness weekend might be coming up?? wheres the welding needed?

Northern BX madness weekend, can we call it 'anything they can do we can try as well'? Though the southern meet did include an imported northerner, so maybe the location isn't all that important?

Fun and games indeed
Not much more I can add other than I now know how to fit an octopus, a steering rack and I'm kinda glad I run an N/A[}:)] So much more room to play!
Good to meet Tom, David and Mike over the weekend and a "Big Up" to Tom for his work with a big hammer and a busted vice replacing the bottom engine mount and for letting me have a shot in his aircon fitted TZD. Nice[:p]
And this for Mr W [:D][:D], for letting me empty his beer fridge and for his advice and help in getting my BX to ride better than I thought it ever could[8D]. I floated home this morning with a silly grin!

Yep looks like your going to have one great BX there!! Shame the Maroon one didn't work out though....it was a very cool colour, then so is grey. Well done Marty on your purchase, £122 Bargain!! If Dave logs in tonight Cheque for spoiler is in post.
Just given mine an oil change and good scrub up earlier, older guy walking dog stopped to tell me he used to have one, black GTI said it went like sh*t of a shovel, he's currently driving a C5 which he's very pleased with. He also recommended some local specialists which was handy.

Had a little look at his web page the mans potty - now has a Ami 8 too in his fleet.
Stewart - inner wheelarch passenger side,

not too sure about boot floor and also rear vallance I think.
Bernie - the estate was just too far from home to get it back - wheras this one is 45 minutes away.
