Those Rapiers got 13" wheels at the same time as the Minx they were based on - '64-ish? but originally they had 15" wheels &, yes, their "dustbin lids" were very similar to the preceding S-T 90. However the Alpine roadster spawned THAT had simple hubcaps, perhaps more in keeping with a sports car.

I remember fitting white wall tyres on some of those when they were new and chrome embellishers, the white walls were just that, a white rubber ring that tucked in between the tyre and the rim, push the tyre off the rim insert the white wall then inflate the tyre to trap it in place.

They got ripped off when the not so careful driver kerbed them.

Nice way of putting it. Internet Movie Car Database has it one letter away from the BMW M/c model but could be wrong of course.

Thats just a screenshot Gibbo, I put the full video up here Remember these all our Yesterdays. You are right of course, as was Old'uns with his cryptic "Well'ard K1". It is identified as an Allard L1 on the IMCDB but not always accurate it could well be an Allard K1.

My Great Uncle Jim Boothby flew with Stephen Allard during WWII in 85 Squadron. That front drill looks somewhat like the grill on a JBM roadster. Jim used the hexagon symbol (from 85 Squadron) as part of his logo.

I remember you mentioning the JBM a few years ago now. At the time I dug out a thread on the Autosport forum. My original link is broken but you may find some information of interest here
