I worked with a Danish lad that bought one of those.
The Swedish MOT (besiktning) told him to remove the wooden steering wheel as in a crash it could be dangerous.
So he sold it and bought one of the first SAAB 900 Turbo's.

Thats what I reckon Van, they were lying around in an antiques "emporium" with no label on them, set of 4.

Have to say the picture conjured up an image of a rather later model in my mind - but 'til Gibbo tells us differently . . .

I think it's pre 1950, maybe 1948 Sunbeam Talbot 10, the later 80 an 90 Rootes models had similar but a bit less 'posh' trims.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

So seems you were right then Neil; must admit it was a Rootes 90 that flashed up in my mind's eye when I saw the original piccie, but no more than that, hence the slightly tentative "Sunbeam Talbot?"

Heres a set of four virtually identical ones on e-bay....although seller location is Gloucestershire which is a long way from Co.Durham where I saw them on Saturday.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sunbeam-Whee ... SwvNddF0Rm

quite an imprecise listing...."possibly from an Alpine" was the only info given.

REgards Neil

PS
This is another listing with a set of new Sunbeam Alpine wheel trims from AM Classical Car Accessories.

"Sunbeam Alpine wheel trim x 4. Made in England. Each trim has been individually hand crafted using traditional tooling & methods spanning the past 100 years. Manufactured in Anodised Aluminium.
Please note: The centre hub cap is NOT included but is available separately if required

I spent an hour trying to track these down earlier on and I didn't find a definite conclusion. However the closest I found was from a Sunbeam Rapier as you can see but not conclusive:

I suspect they are reproductions, and the badge centre a clag on extra, but based on "originals" fitted to an Alpine.

Ah convincing evidence but maybe those Rapier owners could have bought those trims off e-bay...all they need is a 13 inch wheel! :-D

Regards Neil

PS our friends at AM Classic Accessories list the same wheel trims for a Sunbeam Rapier!

:rofl2:
Indeed they could have, but I think it's unlikely that they all did, especially the purple stunner!! :-D
