Car News-Global and Domestic

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Car makers like an optional extra. After all up-sell a few of those and it all helps with profitability.

Its a matter of opinion of course, but Car Makers also seem to enjoy installing functions and facilities well out of the essential of reliable, comfortable and economic A to B Motoring, like the current obsession with autonomous driving capability.

But this little addon patented by Ford ( yes patented so no one else steals their idea :-D ) over in the USA surely takes the biscuit for total unnecessaryness....
Note to Ford....to paraphrase Howard H. Aitken

"Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats."

What are Citroen up to?

Well a whole load of marketing guff, although well done for signing up Nigel Owens right now (although his emirates ads are funnier).
Couple of interesting points.
They plan to go for a new range of cost-efficient products for international markets particularly India and make the observation.

“Cars in Europe often have so much technology that people don’t use half of it. It’s working out what’s important for the customer.”

So their strategy for the "international markets" is dubbed "C-Cubed because it consists of “three words: cool, comfortable and clever, the last of these being about clever and fresh ways of reducing cost and showroom prices."
and on the electric front
“Every model that we launch from next year will have a petrol and diesel and either a full-electric or plug-in hybrid until 2025 when 100% of our vehicles will become electrified,”

It also gives China full access to Tesla's technology...
Not daft.

I heard that news about Citroen "everything electic" from 2025, from a Cit salesman here too.
Things are beginning to move at a welcome pace!

Interesting to read that Porsche dont see their main revenue stream in the future as selling cars.

Bit of a negative slant in the title of this article, bit of a leading question, bit of a slating in the comments section!

Analysis: How long can Tesla survive?

Edit they have now one day later changed the headline of that article to...

"Tesla is making progress but still faces challenges"

The same question could be asked of many of the world's traditional automakers too.

I wonder if that will eventually come crashing down like the Austin-Morris-Wolseley-Riley-Leyland-Etc. set up and the Rootes Group Humber-Hillman-Sunbeam Talbot-Commer-Karrier lot.

In this world of global commerce where Scotts Porage Oats is owned by Pepsico. and merely milled with lashings of foreign oats in Bonnie Scotland, I am afraid that it is no longer possible to rely on Morgan as being an example of a truly British Car Company.........since March/April this year Italian investment company Investindustrial has acquired a majority stake in Morgan Motor Company.

Another mode now......this time from BMW.

The world has been waiting for this vital development. Human beings have become incapable of opening windows and selecting music while driving so hats off to BMW, this major world crisis has been solved.
