Your psychic Neal  No idea what I've posted - don't get old. The plastic garden storage unit that houses it my wife refers to as my 'Wendy House'.

We had a friend giving us some help at the time and my wife came down the garden and said "This looks like 'Last of the summer wine' "

Peter

Could well be Steve - but it isn't.

Spot on Mick. Easy proces of deduction?

I looked up the De Dion Bouton company after consulting the Internet Movie Cars Database for the movie Love in the Afternoon with Audrey Hepburn/Gary Cooper Maurice Chevalier, and discovered that indeed it was the world's largest car maker in 1900!

I think we're living in parallel universes, my process was identical followed by a DDG search for pics of commercial DDB's!! :-D

I've still got a couple of unanswered bits of trivia simmering in the background.
The Fictional Barry Cade's avatar/sketch/photo which accompanied his Car Mechanics articles.

(I could quite easily resolve it by actually buying a car mechanics magazine from e-bay for the appropriate period.) but prefer the serendipitous approach, and by chance I will come across a bundle of such magazines on my travels, and imagine the unbridled joy of such a discovery!
The other one is the impossible whatsthisthen? which I have never passed again since I photographed it under the tarpaulin. That one is going to be a case of discretely revisiting and peeking under the covers on the next occasion
Regards Neil

PS Not forgetting I need someone to go to Jersey and photograph the AA box at Trinity to complete the final box in the FCF AA Box challenge!

My first guess would be either a boiler house or rather antiquated air conditioning plant ?

I may have been a little severe in saying no to a boiler house but that is not the prime thing I am looking for. A hint may be to say that the building no longer performs the function shown in this picture as it has been superceded. However it was famous in its day in the local area!!

You said it was one for Peter Mick...maybe he will know off the top of his head.

I am presuming the reference to Peter means the well known in the area could be Dorset/Hampshire.
I am guessing a former power station, although I did flirt with the Royal Navy former Cordite factory at Holton Heath which after a bit of research isn't our mystery object.

Not very precise but you never know you may release a little extra clue....

:rofl2: I like the reasoning and you are correct with a former power station!! The reference to Peter was following up his water pumping system post, nothing to do with area. A further clue may be to do with my trip in 2017!! I did suggest there may be more from it to come :-D
