I'm thinking about adding another low pressure fuel pump inline to the in tank pump to help pumping cold veg oil/bio blend towards the Bosch hp pump. Currently the in tank pump does not supply enough fuel when cold.
The questions are:
1) How much pressure can the low pressure regulator in the filter body take? I know it's suppose to keep the pressure under 2.5 bar but the low pressure pump can in theory supply up to 8 bar. I'm trying to avoid adding another fuel pressure regulator if possible.
2) What happens when the low pressure regulator fails?
3) How much pressure can the hp pump take on it's inlet?
Polite request: Please don't tell me not to run veg oil in my car. I've been hearing it for the last 10 years and 300k miles and hadn't had any veg related issue.

That would probably be on non-HDi engines (or is it?). How many miles have you done without problem with the HDi engine? Over what period?
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

I hung my head and confess that most of my miles were on xud with Bosch pump. One day I'll get back to xud hopefully. On hdi only 4k so far over last 3 months and no issues. Others I know have done 40k with same fuel mix. Is anybody able to point me in the direction for my actual question? I know some cars have 2 liift pumps or upgraded more powerful lift pump.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara X7 with the 2.0 PSA HDi 16v Diesel Engine has an external fuel pump rather than an in-tank one. It's a Bosch one. One of my old customers had leakage from the pump body owing to corrosion of the alloy case. I fitted an old Bosch pump from a BX GTi 16v to get him mobile. He lived in a very isolated part of the Lake District and was stuck at the roadside. He never bothered fitting the 'correct' diesel pump. In fact the Bosch pump that Suzuki fits has the same part# as a Saab Turbo with the petrol engine. So, you could try the same?
I would go for a genuine Bosch from eBay. One that is similar to the BX GTi models and give it a go. I used the old GTi pump that I had lying about as a transfer pump for old engine oil to large storage containers for ages without the pump complaining and then went on to its new home in the Suzuki without issue until his timing belt broke on the M6 80k mls later...
