Since we have got Thomas Dolby in the mix, I rather liked this one of his;

James
ex BX 1.9
ex Xantia 2.0HDi SX
ex Xantia 2.0HDi LX
Ex C5 2.0HDi VTR
Ex C5 2.0HDi VTR

C5 2.2HDi VTX+

^^^^^^^
Which contains the oft quoted line here at Bobins towers:

"She's tidied up and I can't find anything"

Apparently Magnus Pyke was a little challenging to work with in that video, telling Dolby that he'd be surprised if any woman could blind him with science :?

Who made the first radio transmission ?
Marconi.

So Starship's - We Built This City On Sausage Rolls springs to mind:
"Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio...."

Less well known is who made the first entertainment broadcast - step forward Reginald A. Fessenden.... and I'm going to struggle to find a song linked to him :-D But he did broadcast his toppermost of the poppermost show from Massachusetts, so only one song springs to mind......

A track which you picture as using the masts:

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: telegraphy, I read an account of how - or at least why - Samuel Morse developed his Morse code.
Wikipedia wrote:As noted, in 1825 New York City had commissioned Morse to paint a portrait of Lafayette in Washington, DC. While Morse was painting, a horse messenger delivered a letter from his father that read, "Your dear wife is convalescent". The next day he received a letter from his father detailing his wife's sudden death.[8] Morse immediately left Washington for his home at New Haven, leaving the portrait of Lafayette unfinished. By the time he arrived, his wife had already been buried.[9] Heartbroken that for days he was unaware of his wife's failing health and her death, he decided to explore a means of rapid long distance communication.[10]

While returning by ship from Europe in 1832, Morse encountered Charles Thomas Jackson of Boston, a man who was well schooled in electromagnetism. Witnessing various experiments with Jackson's electromagnet, Morse developed the concept of a single-wire telegraph. He set aside his painting, The Gallery of the Louvre.[11] The original Morse telegraph, submitted with his patent application, is part of the collections of the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution.[12] In time the Morse code, which he developed, would become the primary language of telegraphy in the world. It is still the standard for rhythmic transmission of data.

Michael Poulter has a very good programme on Radio Necastle on a Sunday Night. So tonights random link has also led me to playing a bit of trumpet jazz.

So on the radio was Linda Rondstat and Nelson Riddle doing "It Never entered my mind"

Nice song nicely arranged well sung, but down the side was Chet Baker doing his version.

SElected it and on it autoplayed, to other stuff including this track from the 40's sung originally by Sarah Vaughan. Nice background stuff

Well I like to keep the Pickled Egg jukebox ticking over so I'll put up one selection for tonight.

Micks latest picture of a Rat had me thinking of Rattus norvegicus from the Stranglers, couple of tracks made the NPSU jukebox in the late 70's, my inspiration for this thread.

Then I heard "New York City" on the radio...."I'm doing Fine Now" hadnt heard it for a bit decent enough tune.

Seattle cropped up on POTD....bit of Nirvana maybe.....

While since I have played this one, but inspired by Bobin's little red light here's Todd Rundgren's "Little Red Lights"

You might have to be a fan to like it! Did a lot of producing in his later career including Bat out of Hell for Meatloaf.
