C5 X7 Tourer backward camera

Hello everyone and welcome.
I got C5 X7 Tourer from 2013. I want to install OEM backward camera to my car but i dont be sure that it fit.
I got RT6 radio number 98067084ZD. I got question, it is possible to install backward camera to my car? I haven't looked into the tailgate yet if there are camera cables. But i got Camera cap in tailgate.

The potential problem you are going to have (depending on your trim level) is that there are different tailgate and intermediate wiring harnesses, depending on whether the tailgate camera option and and also whether the vehicle was fitted with front & rear or rear only parking assistance. If you don't have the correct harness, it i likely the wiring ins not there.

Once you have posted your vehicle VIN number up, we will know what you have fitted.

Ok, so I have undertaken a comparison for you:

You have: Rear Tailgate Harness (2): with marking MARKING 9686035180 or 9686035280 (Part number: 6534SX)
You need Harness: Part: 9800224080

You have: TAILGATE HARNESS: MARKING 9686035380 (Part number: 6534SY)
Needs: No change needed.

You have: Interior Wiring Harness (1): (Part 1609733180)
You need: Intermediate Wiring Harness (Part: 1608886880) This part is no longer available new from Citroen.

You have: Fascia Panel Harness: (Part 9802608680)
Needs: No change needed.

So you would need 2 different harnesses the large interior one from rear to front, and one in the tailgate section.

So my advice to you would be to have an aftermarket one fitted and wired up to a dimming mirror like this one did:

Okey, thanks. Maybe i can find destroyed C5 with this harnesses. When not i think about this aftermarket mirror. I got aftermarket mirror with camera in my previous car ( A4 B5 99') but i want to have view from camera on radio screen. It is possible to make this?

Don't forget not all the RT6 units are the same. You need to get one that supports the video camera. There are lots of these and not all of them support the rear camera.

You got list which one RT6 supports the video camera? Number of my radio is 98067084ZD.
And what i must do put the view on the radio? Maybe i must do something by Diagbox?
On Polish Forum i read that, when we change in BSI and RNEG2010 that we have camera, then we can see Black screen and lines on it - that's mean that we can have working camera on radio.
Also are you sure, that i can't have this harnesses in my car? Maybe i can look at it when i remove upholstery from tailgate?
Few days ago i had the rear bumper changed in workshop because i got little accident. Maybe i have the proper harnesses?

I’ve just closed down my rig foe tonight, but I’ll check the RT6 models for you tomorrow against the parts I have.

For the wiring harnesses, I checked your VIN for the ones you have in the car now. Then I took the filter off to show all harnesses and you have both that do not include options for the camera. That’s why I put the harness numbers you have and the ons for the build number of your car with both front and rear parking assistance and left hand drive etc., and these are the harnesses that you need.

There are several harnesses in the tailgate. There is the tailgate standard harness for the motorised tailgate which you have, but there is a second one that takes the camera and the other feeds into the intermediate harness to the front. So neither of the 2 you have are listed for the camera option.

All I can say is there wouldn’t be 20+ harnesses in each section if they were all the same, as it would not be economical to make all these different ones.

I’ll check the RT6 parts for you tomorrow.

Ok, so I've checked through all the variants of the RT6 and the one needed to support Front & Rear Obstacle Detection + Camera, without Equaliser Amplifier and for your build date (13365) is:

Citroen part numbers: 16115080ZD or 1612413580

You current model (Citroen part number) is 16115227ZD.

I think that would be your better option - if you saw the result in the link to the other member's post - it is entirely independent of the vehicle's systems and without the cheap aftermarket effect - so looks tidy.

I have the opportunity to buy radio with number 98083776XT-01. Can i put this radio in my car "p?ug&Play" ? And if i also buy the OE rear camera i need to buy something more?

No, it won't be plug and play.

1) It must be VIN-coded to your car - or it will not be configured properly and will not work properly.
2) If you have a different model head unit in your car, then you need to programme the new unit with the correct parameters and options that your vehicle has - because the replacement unit will have come from a different vehicle with different options.
3) Not all RT6 Head Units support a rear view camera for the Tourer. It must be the correct hardware and software level.
4) You also need to have the correct rear tailgate electrical harness fitted to support a camera.
