That's a playlist and won't embed with the youtube tags, goes nowhere - have fixed the link though.

Just before we leave Rudesheim would be a shame not to hear Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett

I do recall there was a group called The Contours - but I only ever remember Brian Poole's version of the song. Actually I had conveniently forgotten about it but discovered that it's popular with DJ's doing '60's nights AND it's guaranteed to get people out on the dance floor - although their parent's wouldn't have been born when it was 1st released!

Leslie Hornby!
I usually listen to this by Country Joe & The Fish who originated it - I have the LP and the CD.
I was listening to it by Joe on YouTube and this came up.
Not as good as the original but not too bad.

I'm amazed that I remembered her name

Well, double Leonard Cohen on Radio 2 Jeremy Vine today. First from the Rock Choir singing Hallelujah which proved to be inspirational for a guest on the show, and then Leonards own version.

Been posted up before but I think it was this tune from Leonard Cohen which opened the door of appreciation for me. Great feel to the tune, and Leonard seems to be enjoying himself :-D

One of the finds on the PE Christmas Selection Juke Box for me.

I'm sure it was Julie Christensen and Perla Batilla that were with him when I saw them in Stockholm.
An incredible concert.

Alan Parsons is on "tracks of my years" on Radio 2. Most famous of course for his appearance in the Pickled Egg Jukebox-10 Morse Code Tracks playlist.

As an engineer he was involvedr "Abbey Road" and "Let it Be" with the Beatles, as well as "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd.

Not sure if he is choosing all of his "tracks of my years" to be tracks he has been associated with himself but todays choices were....
Year of the Cat by Al Stewart.....surprisingly long for a hit single both sides of the pond

and The Air That I Breathe by the Hollies

Not the obvious choice Steve. I reckon George Harrison's compositions were the stand outs, although my own view is that the album in general is over-rated. The photography is probably the most enduring and arguably the greatest artistic element of the album. Just ask the Japanese tourists in St Johns Wood!

Of course "Here comes the sun" made it into the top 20 Intros, previously sampled on the PE jukebox.

As a Beatles fan I personally like "The End" best because it highlighted each members musical talent via a decent drum section, guitar solo, use of the synth and harmonies to possibly pave the way for future greats like Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway to Heaven and Sultans of Swing etc. It also showcased the members' different approaches developing, which launched them into their solo careers:

At the time I liked Octopus's Garden best but I've grown up since then!! :-D

As for the anniversary hype I can't say I've really noticed anything different, but then I do have the album on the wall as detailed previously!
:yeah: :dom: :dom: :bouncy: :bd: :monkey: :juggle: :cd: :drink: :cd: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Hype? what Hype? :-D

Wonder if there ever has been an album cover more "selfiable" or indeed any other album cover which has inspired so many to photograph the same scene.

I cant think of any.

Are there any? The restriction is Album Covers....yes I am sure people photograph Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, and maybe even a few Gerry Rafferty fans may make a pilgrimage to Baker Street with their cameras, but they dont count in this little exercise in Trivia!
