That's a Fuel Pump Control Fault - non characterised. I don't have any other info on it unfortunately, but it's listed under the Engine Fusebox faults.

The fuel pump isnt pumping, so its either BSM or the pump itself

Have you had reason to disturb anything under the hood lately? Maybe time for a bit of wire wiggling / checking of electrical plugs.

what should the voltage be on the wires to the fuel pump?

You can always try reinitialising the Injection ECU which is normally done in the following circumstances:
Conditions to be observed:
Failure to initialise the engine idling causes the engine to malfunction: The engine management ECU cannot perfectly control engine torque in terms of the motorised throttle housing flap.
N.B.: The engine ECU records in an EEPROM the initialisation parameters of the motorised butterfly housing flap as well as the pedal stops . At the time of the initialisation, the petrol pump is in long pre-control to refill the supply circuit with fuel and thus to prevent the appearance of faults due to poor starting.
- Replacing the injection ECU
- Replacing of the motorised throttle housing
- Repair of the motorised throttle housing (as a result of a detected fault)
- Downloading to the injection ECU
- Telecoding the injection ECU
- Change of the accelerator pedal position sensor
- Repair of the accelerator pedal position sensor (as a result of a detected fault)
Conditions to be observed:
- Vehicle stopped
- Engine not running
- Do not touch the accelerator pedal
- Battery voltage greater than 10,1 volts
- Coolant temperature between 10°C and 90°C
- Inlet air temperature higher than 6°C
- Depress the accelerator pedal fully
- Switch on the ignition
- Release the accelerator pedal
- Do not switch off ignition
- Do not press the accelerator pedal

And that didnt work either , so either brand new pump is fubard, or the BSM is toast

Are you getting 12V at the fuel pump at key on, and when cranking? Is it really 12V, i.e. will it light a bulb or does it just die if you put some load on it? ISTR that the diesels suffered from burnt contacts on one of the plugs on the BSM that supplied the fuel pump - there was even a repair kit to put a new pin in the plug. Have you had the plugs off and had a look?

Re: C5 V6 (2005) - turns over wont start :(
I've had a similar problem on my mk1 diesel in the past - engine cranking but fuel pump not running. Turned out it was as noted above, dodgy connection between the plug pin and the bsm. Try running the fuel pump off a 12v feed directly from the battery. If the pump works off the direct feed check all the pin/fuse connections at the bsm/fuse box.

Only ever seen this on mk 1 diesels but not to say petrols dont suffer the same fate. It is pin 11 or 12 of the 16 way grey connector on the BSM that burns out.RichardW wrote: ↑18 Sep 2019, 16:03 Are you getting 12V at the fuel pump at key on, and when cranking? There are repair terminals available & a modification to add an extra pin to reduce the load on the original terminal

Re: C5 V6 (2005) - turns over wont start :(
I had what I presume is the same problem with our old 2001 Xsara. At the time I didn't know about the pin problem and I wired up an alternative fused supply through a relay to bypass the fusebox as I had discovered that applying 12v to the wire out of the fusebox that went to the pump made it work.wheeler wrote: ↑19 Sep 2019, 07:35Only ever seen this on mk 1 diesels but not to say petrols dont suffer the same fate. Re: C5 V6 (2005) - turns over wont start :(
I've only ever seen that issue on mk1 C5's. Despite loads of models having the same fusebox it only seems to be Mk1 C5's that have the pin burnout issue.
The Mk2 Full CAN models have a completely different BSM & don't have this issue.
Xsaras however suffer from a high resistance in the fuel pump wire in one of the big round connectors behind the ECU, It can sometimes even show 12v at the pump but if you check it with a bulb it doesent light up as not enough current can pass through.

Thanky ou all. I`ve pulled the BSM out, there doesnt seem to be any burnt pins anywhere?
