Hi Peter,
It looks like a similar repair connector strip (for missing pixels) to the conductive rubber item used on XM LH matrix display. Says "film", so maybe a flexible track-strip to connect pcb to display.

I think this is the foil repair to fix the missing pixels on the RD4 specific type displays only. These screens can suffer from missing pixels as a result from heat affecting the contact and this foil replaces the original - but other tools are needed to do the repair.

Thanks. Mine seems to go fuzzy when it gets hot so doesn't have the same problem as the one in the picture.

The fascia needs to come off. The screws are behind the long decorative strip under the dash fascia below the air vents. The screen is attached to the frame behind that.
