On the subject of telephone music, I recorded the first two lines of this as the message on our answerphone in an attempt to deter messages. Unfortunately the first caller was my daughter's primary school Headmistress calling to ask for my assistance with the school hall tannoy system. Imagine her reaction to the message, my daughter was not impressed with me but I escaped the tannoy fault!!:

Apologies! :-D

Yes and not an obvious choice by Blondie, ELO, or Lionel Richie

But This including a bonus yellow mark lll Cortina.

Please excuse my dalliance into oompah if the telephone phase is still on the go :-D

Anyone fancy giving their stereo headphones a work out with some percussive oompah. Decca Phase 4 Stereo in its infancy for those with long memories :-D

That even sounds good on the laptop speakers. I remember Decca's development of stereo from 1960 onwards when I was buying my first records.
For those that don't remember have a look at :
https://hifiauditions.wordpress.com/201 ... -4-stereo/
which will put you in the picture. :)

Didn't really know what the Phase 4 thing was about just thought they were a collection of slightly second division LP's...thanks for the link Mick.

Wonder if Youtube has Edmundo Ros and his Bongos from the South! from the same series.

I bet that was well received! :)
I had an LP that was on a Decca Deram label that was awesome. One of those that vanished unfortunately, spent years looking for a replacement.

Sadly can't remember any longer what it was - surprises me that I can remember Decca Deram.

On reflection, I wonder if it was "Indo-Jazz" a mixture of John Mayer's Indian music and Joe Harriot's Jazz quintet.

It was absolutely euphoric.

Well it has of course, but unlike most of my selections, it is the full album unfortunately.

Couple of minutes of "Deep in the Heart of Texas" should give the stereo effect though.

Surprisingly not all the early 60's artistes took advantage of stereo but IMO The Beatles were one group that did. There are many examples of stereo separation and channel mixing in the early works to be savoured:

I had a friend listening to Maxwell's Silver Hammer on a posh American stereo, through headphones, pretty stoned and leapt up in terror as Maxwell seemed to pop up behind him with the hammer.

Same lad, stoned out of his head on acid, spent all night with the headphones on listening to King Crimson - In The Hall Of The Crimson King.
Not good for his sanity - incidentally one of may all time favourite albums
