Hi all,
Am currently on holiday in the Skoda in France - currently overnight stopping in Beaune on the way down to Régusse in the morning.
It's become apparent after 500+ miles today "at speed" that the front tyres, though legal and at the correct pressures are, let's say, well past their best.
Does anyone know if it's worth replacing them in France? Might I get a better price? Any places or chains to avoid or recommend? They're 205/16/55.
Thanks!
Mike

Warm enough for you Mike?
I used Profil Plus Pneus Europe before I started buying on line, but the nearest to you tomorrow is 30 miles away. To give you an idea of pricing, a Michelin Energy Saver is about 80 euros with this chain. Then there's fitting etc. You'll have a better idea than me whether this is a decent price compared to the UK though.

If you want something familiar there is an Euromaster just down the road from Beaune at Chalon-sur-Saone.
Shove your requirements in and judge the price. Looks like they have the add-on for fitting.

I can't believe that anything automotive is cheaper in France - but the major hypermarchés sell tyres (at least in the more common sizes)

Re: Buying Tyres in France? Worth it?
I concur, nothing automotive is cheaper in France in my experience.
I had to buy a 10" tyre for my trailer in the early 90s. Cost over twice what I would have paid in the UK and they could only supply a cross-ply. IIRC this was from Point S. I didn't post about this before as I thought it might not be relevant any more.

As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Hypermarché's oil can be, in fact Auchan's Diesel 15/40 has gone down about €1 in the last year - so bought 15ls - only to find Norauto's has gone down rather more, & is now 50c less.
However wipers are 10 times the price & oil filters about double - must check out leClerk's next time.
