A Camper Whatsthisthen?

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

For reply number 300 on the thread let us have a celebratory Whats this then?

Image

Only one in the UK (a blue one) apparently and featured on George Clarke's Amazing Spaces renovated by a bloke from Lincolnshire. The Pickled Egg Jukebox Selections this evening could help, as could a very intimate knowledge of the film Total Recall.

No entries, c'est la vie.

It is a Pheonix designed by Robert Q Riley and based on a VW van. It appeared briefly in "Total Recall", and the plans can be bought from RQ Riley for less then 100$. More about it here

"not really suitable for day to day driving"

Nonsense. We've only owned a camper for about 25 years now. First a C15, then an Expert. Both work fine as an only vehicle (and so would a romahome). The C15 had fuel economy (50 mpg) that is still fairly respectable in 2019.

Welcome to the thread Wookey! Had to dig back in the archives from 2017 to find the "not suitable for day to day driving" comment which I half remembered was one of mine talking about a Bongo. Pleased you can make it work for you.

I see that you have done your own DIY camper conversion. Not sure if you have posted up details anywhere else on the forum but this is just the thread to collect together a bit of information stories and pictures of all things camper van/motorhome.

Join in if you can

This was the best camping car I have owned

I don't think that was 'built' Neil, looks like the result of a ram raid.
