I'm on a short stay in Oz and am looking around for cars or vans to use while I'm here. Cars are expensive, so my plan to get a van I can make into a camper is probably out of reach.
I'm considering alternatives like people carriers, 4x4s or estates. But then I found a Xantia.
The Xantia has been one of those things I've always oggled since I had one on Gran Turismo back in the day. I think they're beautiful, and I've always said I'd get one one day.
So I'm thinking of getting this one. 2.0 petrol 1997 model. It's not the sensible choice for my needs, but it's the one that excites me.
I've slept in my old Peugeot 106 on short trips, so if I can make that work I'm fairly confident I can do it in a Xantia, even if it's not exactly as nice as my Dispatch back home.
Only thing I need to make sure is the seats fold flat, and that there's enough length. I can always remove the passenger seat but it'd be nice if there was about 2 metres of flat distance from the boot to the front seat if pulled all the way forward.
Do the Xantia hatchback seats fold flat? How much length is there from boot to front seat?

The seats do fold flat, but I cannot remember how much space this generates.

With the rear seat folded down, there is a parallel space of 1.4m, or 1.8m on the diagonal. This is limited by the rear seat base which folds forwards and up. If you remove the rear seat base, and slide the front seat forward there is well over 2m available on the diagonal.

Yea I'd be up for removing the seat base, as long as it can be removed nondestructively.
Reckon 2 metres on the parallel?

The rear seat base comes out easily in 2 pieces 60/40 split, with the narrow seat on the LH side.kenbw2 wrote: 15 Aug 2019, 09:42 Yea I'd be up for removing the seat base, as long as it can be removed nondestructively.

Yes, 2m parallel if the front seat is moved/tilted forward.
I presume that you would sleep with your head towards the front of the car, so you might want something to give a level support to your shoulders and head.
