Either of those makes definitely a very rare spot.

Some of our older viewers may remember these before they were museum pieces, others may need to ask a grown-up about them

Yep :-D And I'm certainly getting my money's worth
There was a lovely little Austin Seven Chummy van there - I could barely get my big toe in the cab. How did people survive in the olden days ?

I've shoved my ford popular photo up on POTD.

You are a bit self conscious with a camera out round the scrapyards so no further photos but did spot an increasingly rare site of a Fiat X19,

Also spotted a shabby AX, a shabby VW Camper and a couple of those long long Volvo Estates designed with a ruler. My other notable spot, if only for its colour I have posted in Favourite Colours for cars

"long long Volvo Estates designed with a ruler" You mean a 145 school bus? or don't you mean THAT long?

Both a bit modern for me but the Olds had been identified before I even saw the post.

The grille badge on the blue one suggested Buick to me, but absence of portholes made me dismiss that, so thought it might be a Mercury; not like any I know - & those wrapround tail lights were very GM. I'm obviously missing something, 'cos, in truth I still don't know what it is - unless that "Skylark" link means I was right all along (although I didn't know that badge had been revived).

That was a Buick Skyline Skylark Custom....I'll shove a pic of it up on the whatsthisthen? thread.

Thge Volvos with the straight lines were of the 740/760 variety, not quite as long as this one granted!

So, I was right - it WAS a Buick (albeit sans portholes).

Surely the 700 series Volvos just evolved from the 144, via the 264 (not forgetting the ultimate designed with a ruler 262C*)?

The only 6-door Volvos I've seen were mourners' cars - so a silver estate is a bit of an oddity. However the looooong ones I had in mind were the stretched 145's, with a 2nd window (&, presumably at least one extra row of seats) behind the C-pillar, which served as school buses in rural Sweden.

* Bertone got the credit, but clearly inspired by - yes, a Buick (Regal)!

Mk 1 Lotus Cortina seen on the M20

Inner lane doing about 45 mph. It seems to me a bit too mollycoddled being driven like this, like the Citroen convoys I've seen abroad twice.

Despite a surprising number of old car mags in the Spar shop (attached to the National garage on the outskirts of town) not too many classics up in on the Outer Hebrides. Yesterday spotted the tailend of a P4 Rover in a bodyshop in a Stornaway backstreet & on the road out of town going up to Port Ness amazed to see a Smokey & the Bandit era Firebird coming the other way. Today, passing through Laxay, there was an Escort Mexico (or, at least a tribute - don't remember grey graphics being an option) coming towards me, immediately after that sighting, through a fence, spotted the rusting remains of an XJS in a field. Coming back up that road later in the day saw a van coning t'other way towing a trailer carrying something that looked like it might be interesting so paid particular attention as it drew near, it was what looked like a Princess chassis cab but, given the high roofline AND where we were, I suspect this was actually the remains of a coachbuilt ambulance, the wooden "cab back" actually being the partition behind the driver.
