DS7 Power assist Tailgate

Post by Iansel »

I have a DS7 Prestige. For reasons best know to DS they don’t fIt a Powered Tailgate which seems to be standard even on basic competitors models.
Is it possible to retrofit this feature either by the main dealer or with an third party accessory?

Actually they do!

It is only on the top of the range Ultra Prestige not on the Prestige model.

It can be activated using the interior control, the key fob remotely, the actual button on the tailgate, or hands free by passing your foot underneath the rear bumper to open the tailgate. It would not be anywhere practical to retro-fit as it is an entirely integrated system.

Sorry to rain on your parade - these are not cheap to buy and the options list is extensive as are the trim levels and not easy to work out exactly what's what at all.

Mark,

I knew they did it on the Ultra Prestige but it’s nearly £10k more than the Prestige and the Tailgate was the only thing extra spec item I wanted. I bet all the wiring is already there and the software is written so all you would need is to add the actuators and sensors.

Was hoping it could be added but hey ho not to be.

Actually, probably not. Unless an item is featured in the options list (is it an extra cost option for the Prestige?) then it's unlikely to have the wiring ready and waiting.

No, unfortunately the actual tailgate is a different part completely from the non-motorised version, then there are 7 different tailgate harnesses - depending on options and motor. The days of them bundling one harness so you can retro fit options are long gone - it costs too much - so now they have multiple harnesses throughout the engine , front, fascia, seats, rear, and tailgate in addition to the supplementary harnesses.

It's actually quite scary now with all the electrical add-ons, cameras, infra red etc. that are available. I would be scared to touch anything for fear of screwing something up. I know it took the dealer a day to calibrate the forward radar detection on a C4 Picasso Spacetourer - it was only out by about 2 mm! I mean you wouldn't want to even wash the car for fear of dislodging a sensor

Hi guys, have been looking to this option as well since the tailgate is quite heavy.. there is an aftermarket set available for ds7 and I have read positive reviews for other car brands: https://a.aliexpress.com/_B06n6s
Did anyone here try it?
