A new DS7 owner & not a happy one.
My DS7 refused to start when 10 days old, the dashboard was telling me to close the door, when it was shut, and apply the handbrake, which I had not released, but had released its self & could not be re applied. RAC called out & spent 2 hours trying to work out the problem, but RAC laptops don’t have DS7 on them. After 2 hours the RAC went to call out a tow truck, when he asked me to try the car one last time & mysteriously the car started. My local DS garage(75 miles round trip) said they could find no fault & just done a update. Has any other DS7 owners had a similar fate, with their cars?

Unfortunately you guys are 'real world' testing this car - it's not the first and won't be the last of the electrical niggles we've heard about already!

I suspect this will be something to do with the Stop Start system. It involves all three of the things you mentioned - it starts the engine if the door is opened without stopping the system, handbrake won't disengage without foot on the brake etc. etc. Keep us posted though....

As you mention about the stop start, the stop start has never cut in, even thou I have been in traffic, plenty of times. The stop start is definitely switched on, but DS say there is nothing wrong with it.

These systems are very fussy as to when they do and do not work. That’s half the problem. There are so many variables that have to be calculated in order for the system to decide whether it will function or not.

These include things like the battery charge, the capacitor charge remaining, the temperature, the miles driven since the last stop start operation, and what sort of electrical accessories are operating for example.

So keep taking it back until you are 100% satisfied that it is working.

If it wasn’t a 75 mile round trip to my nearest DS dealer, I would take it straight back. Can’t believe Citroen dealers won’t touch it, as they have looked after my wife’s last 2 DS’s. My nearest Citroen garage is 1 mile away.

I understand that the previous DS vehicles were basically tarted up Citroen’s whilst the DS7 is all DS which is why the Citroen garage can’t deal with it .
Also my DS7 stop start won’t work above a certain external temperature but I do get a small symbol explaining this on the dashboard.
Question - should there be a low washer liquid warning? Mine recently ran out without any warning being displayed.

It's because since DS became a separate operating entity within PSA Group. The first 'DS' models were Citroen badged until the next generation were fielded under DS Automobiles.

Although a lot of the engines and technology are the same and shared across all the platforms, the dealerships now tend to be Citroen or DS Automobiles. You can freely order parts that are shared from any Peugeot, Citroen or DS dealership, but for warranty repairs or servicing, they may insist you have it done at a 'DS Dealership' as the staff training and courses may be different for some aspects of the technology.

There are certain conditions required for the operation of the Stop Start system - temperature is only one of many. If it's being a pain, turn it off at the start of each journey.

As for the wash system - incredibly it seems not! I do have this on my C5 X7 - both a warning and message - but I do have the Xenon directional lighting - with headlamp washers which is says is specifically for vehicles equipped with these lamps and washers. But there is no reference at all in the DS7 manual to this - only that you "Top up to the required level when necessary."! Seems 1 step forward and 3 back in a lot cases.

More problems with my DS7, today whilst driving home from work, the screen on the infotainment went blank & I couldn’t alter anything because it’s a touchscreen. The radio station continued playing, but couldn’t even alter the volume from the steering wheel. The screen stayed blank till I got home & turned the car off, when I re started the car the screen came back on. Has anybody else had this happen on their car?

It can happen from overheating. The system has thermal protection and will shut down for a period of time to cool down.

That’s a drawback of the newer touchscreen systems, you are totally bu**ered as most functions are controlled via the screen. You can’t beat a physical button and much safer too, as you know where it is and don’t have to keep looking at a changing screen layout to find what you want.

Could overheating be the problem when the car had only been going about 2 minutes, also they car had been parked up for 12 hrs in a multi storey car park, so wasn’t in direct sunshine.
