Anybody Help 2008 Plate/C3 - Intermittently Engine Cuts-Out...Any Ideas.

Anybody Help 2008 Plate/C3 - Intermittently Engine Cuts-Out...Any Ideas.

Greetings all fellow Citroen owners.

Recently purchased 2008 plate 'C3' & has problem - where engine just cuts out on occasion (hugely embarrassing & dangerous).
Is as if fuel not getting thru at some point etc.

2 mechanics now wrongly diagnosed & still problem exists.

Engine generally does seem to idle at lesser speed than usual.

Clueless, as to next step - as costs mounting & without success.

Appreciate Any Advise/If Anyone Suffered Similar ??.

Need lots more info, engine size & what type of fuel it runs on would be a good start.
Also what has already been done & what checks have been carried out?

Thanks for reply.

1.1 / Petrol Engine.

1st mechanic summised spark plugs...made no difference.

2nd mechanic summised clutch switch...made no difference.
Also - replaced a vale outlet?? - problem still persists.

Both mechanics given-up.
Last mechanic suggests get diagnostic check (but no fault/light warning fault to base on etc).

Worry now is throwing more bad money after bad etc.

Cheers.

Hi, and :welc: to the forum.

I have two suggestions for you. First, if you post up the VIN (which will be automatically obscured so only Moderators can read it) a Moderator can then look up what your C3 had when she rolled out of the factory. Second, you should get a Lexia on her to read off any error codes (they may not have turned on a warning light, but they may be there) to see what is going on. There are Forum members who are willing to help and have such devices;

Thanks for replies - very useful.

Guessing 'Lexia"....a form of diagnostic check.
My likely next move.

Car always starts immediately after cut-out.
Can not imagine crankshaft related, guessing more fuel not getting through related??...but unsure!!- more qualified than me, as equally as perplexed.

Replies / advise...much appreciated.

Cheers.

Not much of a mechanic if he doesn't have diagnostic equipment of some description.

So the Op has a C3 II 5 DOOR SALOON 1.1 i 60 (TU1A) with Manual gearbox 5

You've said it - a diagnostic session with Lexia is really essential to see what it's not happy with. If you can do that and pop any codes up here we may be able to help you further.

Thanks for advice Marc.

Will pursue Lexia/diagnoatic check as next port-of-call.
Only a minor hope, but you wouldnt know of anyone in Stockport area who had one/could help etc ??.
Wouldnt fancy any main dealer charges etc, have already wasted enough money.

Cheers.

Have a squiz at the Lexia owners thread - right at the bottom there is a ink to a Google Map that shows all the owners who have offered Lexia help.

Not all members are active all the time - but ekjdm14 is in Congleton and is active - so maybe drop him a PM.
