Well done Chris. Had a wander out myself about half an hour ago but no sign of the moon at all in deepest northumberland. Supposed to be 22.22

Definitely a picture of the day or night as the case may be.

Went out again after Chris' picture and drove up the hills to get a better view. This was the first snap with the camera, but adjusted the settings and got some much better ones.

Never thought of grabbing the camera as moon photo's are usually a disappointment - longest lens I have now is 150mm.
Did have a 500mm but that was loaned out with a full camera kit that was never returned.

I still have a Pentax Spotmatic downstairs, with 28, 50 & 200mm lenses, extension tubes, and a Weston Mk5.
Jammed shutter (as they do).
Do miss the pentaprism viewfinder: the best way of composing focus/DoF I ever had. :(

My Olympus DSLR has a pentaprism finder. Not sold on the mirrorless ones.
Just bought a Canon for my son, haven't opened it yet but hope it is a mirrored/pentaprism one.
Got wifi and bluetooth and god knows what else.

I have a Fuji Finepix S100FS, 28–400mm (equivalent) zoom, for a 60th birthday pressie a good while 8-[ ago.
It's good, but without prism or mirrior. Viewfinder is squint-through b/w LCD, or a double-fold-out large colour LCD screen.
But I do miss being able to SEE and control chosen depth-of-field and focus effects really clearly. The old Pentax prism viewfinder was just so involving, allowing some really great photos, including thousands of 35mm slides (CT18 was my favourite, and Dia-Direct 32ASA b/w good fun too). I still have several K*d*k Carousel projectors.
Working for Agfa had some advantages, too... 8-)

Agreed, the Pentax finders were excellent, as were the OM series.
I was sloping around the Gaydon motor museum and an elderly couple spotted my Olympus SLR and asked me to take some photo's of them in front of some of the exhibitions. Handed me a Nikon DSLR - that was impressive indeed. Superb viewfinder, far better than mine.
I hadn't considered a Nikon when I bought my DSLR as we had some at work and everyone avoided them as they were rather clunky - a Nokkormat FTn and a Nikon F with the FTn finder. We all defaulted to our own Spotmatics until I bought a heap of OM1s.

For a proper finder a Hasselblad or Rollieflex took some beating.
Most of our work was done on these though.

That's just a baby, mostly we used 10 x 8" reversal film (Agfachrome)

Steve/Chris with all that photographic knowledge, the pages of POTD are the perfect location for some of your snaps :-D

Give me a couple of minutes and we are going to get perilously close to the 77,777 views on POTD with my picture of a glow plug.....I am sure you two can do better than that :-D

The majority of my stuff is on slides, one day I'll buy a scanner to convert them. Not today though.
I don't do many snaps these days. My David Bailey moment passed long ago.

In Lidl today they have a slide and negative scanner for £9.99 (Half the normal price.)
