Peugeot 508 SW commercial

Post by doctle »

I saw a Peugeot 508 SW commercial for the first time today and I don't get it. The ad seems to have been filmed at dusk on a disused desert airstrip interrupted with images of a small snake and some UFO activity. The car looks great, it's way beyond my budget but the ad is very irritating or is it just me?

Yes, hugely irritating and uninformative.

At least this one from Peugeot amongst all the usual tat has a bit of depeche mode :)

Peugeot's advertising phrase which I would come up with first if asked would be this....
Spoiler: show
"The lion goes from strength to strength"
not exactly "vorsprung durch technik" but reasonably well ingrained.

I kinda agree. It's a great looking car but making a video to explain an ad seems to confirm the old adage if you're explaining you're losing

BTW, I was referring to the telly ad, not the one they've had to make to explain the telly ad !

Just imagine how many DMC points you are going to get next time the ad randomly comes on, and you can explain to all and sundry how it was made!
