A bit of a rarity - a Wood and Pickett Triumph Dolomite Sprint from 1976 up for auction this weekend at Mathewsons.

Image
"This car is believed to be the only Triumph Dolomite Sprint to have received The Wood And Pickett Treatment. The company is well known for modifying car interiors especially Mini's for such people as Peter Sellers.

The modifications include full leather interior and centre console with arm rest, electric windows, electric sunroof, central locking, alarm, electric boot release, leather bound Wood And Pickett steering wheel, Wood And Pickett number plates, rear seat belts and fire extinguisher."

Sadly no longer a C5 owner :(

Forgot to mention this (partly 'cos couldn't decide whether it belonged here or "classics" but a month or so back, parked in "Grockle Alley" in Paignton there was a red & white Mk 1 Consul. Now I'm pretty sure the only production duotone Mk 1 was a Dinky Toy (they tarted up all their '50's cars towards the end, presumably to make them look more modern) - & that might well have been a Zephyr Zodiac.

There were a couple round where my parents lived in the '70's, both belonged to lads in the trade; the one owned by 2 brothers down the road gave way to a maroon over duck-egg blue Traction!

That Consul turned up on show at the Steam Fair this weekend so, notwithstanding where I first saw it, seems like it is a local car.

Gibbo, tell us some more about your Austin 3-litre. Was fascinated by the idea of one of those.

Chris, gibbo will no doubt be along with his reply, but I can offer you this from the archives.

Gibbo posted up a whatsthisthen? of his austin 3-litre covered in snow...but left too much of the headlight poking out to stump yours truly :-D

The container in the background of this one was only bought after I closed the shop in 1984 and used for my forecourt shop, the lady is my mate's wife who worked for me at the time.

Now if you brushed a bit of snow off that one would it reveal a double headlight...extracted from here
