Like the first one I bought, mine was black over red, I moved on to an all white A110 then a two tone beige over beige A110, then a Wolseley 6/110 cream over red and finally an Austin 3 Litre in blue.

I used to drive a Cambridge in the early sixties and have no recollection of that dash. Maybe they weren't the same.

Still pretty hard to get from the knobs so far. Can’t find a decent picture of it, but the car did have two horns, one for the city and one for the Countryside.

Obscure
Lift the bonnet and on the rocker cover you will see the name of a well known French landmark with a connection with Francesco Petrarca.

Small bit of looking up and you should be there,
The loose end of the obscure clue
Renault Dauphine Engine Cover Ventoux
Well known French Landmark Mont Ventoux
Francesco Petrarca Famously Walked/Climbed it for Pleasure in 1336 then wrote about it.

Should the conversation lull at a social event you are attending there is much more in the spoiler to assist with the small talk.
Spoiler: show
from wiki The Ascent Of Mont Ventoux
The Italian poet Petrarch wrote about his ascent of Mont Ventoux (in Provence; elevation 1912 meters) on 26 April 1336 in a well-known letter published as one of his Epistolae familiares (IV, 1). In this letter, written around 1350, Petrarch claimed to be the first person since antiquity to have climbed a mountain for the view.

I don't know but I'd guess a Renault Dauphine. (From deep in my memory banks maybe.)

Thats the one Gibbo.

Parisian textile artist Paule Marrot was engaged "to rid Renault of their stuffy image. After decades of being dipped in various shades of black and grey, car bodies [would be] painted in happy pastels." Marrot and her team then developed complementary interior fabrics for the seats and door panels, turning to Paris' large textile houses. Marrot also designed the Dauphine's emblem of three dolphins over a crown, which adorned the Dauphine's steering wheel and hood throughout its production.

Not entirely sure whether the Leopard Skin fabric on this one, was one of those Marrot originals..... :)

Mathewson's Auction tomorrow......

I am by no means an expert on the marque, and you are very very close Steve, and maybe even totally correct.

It was badged up at the side as something different but the badge on the boot would be found on a super snipe.

The Moffat rally it was at was organised by the Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts so I suspect badge engineering would be frowned upon to dress up a super snipe as our whatsthisthen?

The clue about the roof is significant but not sure its easy to tell from my photograph.

A local doctor had one and I got a lift from him one day. As I got out he said tu just close the door - the norm back then was to give car doors a good push and crash them closed, his just closed with a very quiet 'snick' even better than a lot of recent cars do.

There was a flying Snipe on the bonnet that was deemed dangerous to pedestrians when they were run over due to the long bill, which was replaced with a rubber one that invariably drooped, spoiling the image completely.

The boot badge that gave the game away.

 The lady with the stuffed bird attached herself. Looks Snipish so it can stay. (she is a taxedermist) - there's something odd going on with attachments - the first one has slid down to the bottom but doesn't show in the text box to put it back on top
