will Android Auto work withmy Cactus 7" touch screen

Post by renagade »

will my 2016 samsung galaxy j5 work with my 2019 cactus 7" screen?????
I have downloaded Android Auto which works on the phone but I can't get the thing to work with my Cactus 7" touch screen.
I have been told by the sales man that (on top of the new car I also need a new bloody phone )
I don't really want to stick a suction cup to my screen and mount my old tom tom ,would really look naf on a new car.
If one of you techi guy's could put it all on paper for this thick 70 year old to understand.

The touchscreen will be fine - but your Android phone will need to be running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and up with a data plan. For best performance, they recommend Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and up. So you need to find out what software you are using on your Galaxy first of all and update it if necessary. :-D

Sounds like a flipping sweet shop to me - Galaxy, Lollipops and Marshmallows

All Android releases are named after sweets (candies if you insist). It's a "thing" with Android.

Galaxy is a coincidence :rofl2:

At least with IOS there's a logical numbering sequence to make it easier to determine where you are in the version ladder...

But there is with Android as well. They run alphabetically Kit-Kat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, etc.

Doesn't cut it for me - so how is one quickly able to tell if Breezy Badger is newer or older than Bionic Beaver and why is Cosmic Cuttlefish way down the line after Dapper Drake? Totally daft :-D

I think "Daft" was one of the prime design parameters
Its easy to tell which is which as, apart from them being in alphabetical order, they are serial numbered. The first was 4.10 - October 2004, current is 19.04 - April 2019.
They always release in April and October (04 and 10).

Well Guy's
That went off subject. I only asked if my phone would work and I got a lot of drivel on system names. Not bad guy's.

Well my best guess is that as your phone is old in communication terms it won't. Is the handbook no help whatsoever?
