C5 X7 3.0 V6 HDi - Improve Exhaust Sound
Hi are there ways to improve the sound of this model? I'd like to make it you know...like a true 3.0 twinturbo should sound, deeper, stronger (not acute though), any suggestion? thanks!

You should already have the twin rear exhaust pipe outlets that a lot of people without this model don't have and would like to have. If you want more noise I suggest you go to a custom shop, I'm sure there will be some Chinese rubbish that will kill the looks and sound awful.
That's already a nice model, don't go and ruin it.

yeah don't worry and chinese stuff was my last thought! problem is i really don't know what it takes to improve it, change exhaust maybe? air filter?
i wanted something like this: from 3:30 to 3:50
honestly now it sounds so like...nothing.

One of the most impressive sounds I ever heard was when I was overtaken (at a decent speed) by a Rolls Royce, in almost complete silence. Now THAT was an experience!

The cat and DPF will effectively damp out any engine noises - my 307 split the exhaust at the front after the CAT/DPF, and apart from a slight whistling under hard acceleration I was none the wiser until I was under it for something else and found it hanging off!

It's a turbodiesel with a cat and DPF. It's never going to sound anything other than what it does now really.
Why buy such a smooth, quiet car then make it noisier anyway. All it would do is annoy you on longer journeys.

It's extraordinary how quiet a turbodiesel can be running with just turbo and a short downpipe in place. I had to drive a few km some years ago with our 2.0 D4D with the exhaust system removed (except for the downpipe), and apart from full throttle, it was amazingly quiet.
Initially reluctant to do this through a busy town centre, it was explained to me that the turbo smoothed out the bursts of exhaust gas, and had a muffling effect because of that. You can't beat a bit of good muffling, apparently...
