Auto Express has it splashed over its pages
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/vauxhall/ ... nd-details

"The 50kWh battery pack and electric powertrain used on the Corsa-e are unchanged from those used on the all-electric Peugeot 208e, and the two cars share the same maximum 211-mile range as recorded under WLTP. Drive is sent to the front axle through a 134bhp electric motor. "
Batteries and Motor....Shipped in from the far east most likely.

The Corsa over the years has been a top seller, the great "British model" from Zaragoza. Didnt realise that the Corsa A got called the "Nova" in the UK because it sounded too much like "Coarser".
From Wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opel_Corsa

"Subsquent to the acquisition of the Opel and Vauxhall marques by Groupe PSA (Peugeot-Citroën) having been announced on 14 February 2017, the 2019 Corsa F is based on the Peugeot 208 platform (the first of the Opel/Vauxhall nameplates to be built no longer on a GM platform, but on one from Peugeot/Citroën/DS)

Our Spanish friends have come up with something...

The SEAT Mii
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/seat/mii/ ... ed-in-oslo

The new SEAT Mii electric has a range of around 160 miles, and is expected to start from less than £18k

The new SEAT Mii electric has been launched in Oslo, the Spanish brand’s first all-electric car. Prices will be announced in autumn this year, but are expected to start below £18,000.

Intrigued by Neil's post in the whacky names thread I had a peep at the Lightyear One.

And Nova wasn't adopted globally because it means "Not Going" in Spanish. Imagine calling up the breakdown service - "Hi, my not going is not going....."

So in a completely invalid comparison (but that is not going to stop me playing), how does the price in 2019/2020 for the new BMW "Mini" compare with the old BMC Mini from the 50's 60's.

Well roughly allowing for inflation the "old" mini would be the equivalent of around £12,000 in today's money...so half the price of the really new mini electric. (yes different target markets, different car, and old minis at the time underpriced and sold at a loss allegedly!)

I think we may have to wait until DACIA starts to bang out a more bargain basement electric offering, before electric descends into a wider mainstream market.

It certainly was trailed a couple of years ago in this article in which it was stated "Dacia has confirmed that it will be manufacturing electric cars in the UK and that it plans to retain its cheap car mentality" but whats happening now? Bit of research needed.

But keep in mind the original mini was also half the size (literaly) of the new BMW Mini's.... so Kg for Kg it's probably a good deal.

I had the Xantia parked next to a new Mini recently and was surprised to see the "Mini" was the bigger car.

Autocar have done a comprehensive piece on electric vehicles whats coming up and when.

No bargain basement Dacia on the list yet for the masses, and from a quick scan, I reckon currently MG is probably trying the hardest, to deliver EV's at a decent price even if that is still over £20K.

The pricing of upcoming new EV models is disappointing to say the least...!

Some media outlets jumped the gun and posted the price of the Peugeot e-208 and it ranges from about £26,000 to £34,000 after PICG (plug in car grant) which is ludicrously high.... :(

I guess I'll be hanging onto my Ion a bit longer! :rofl2:

Another decent article from Autocar ends up with this comment from PSA chairman Carlos Tavares
Despite the aggressive moves to spread the financial burden, buyers will have to brace themselves to pay more for cars. As the PSA Group’s CEO, Carlos Tavares, put it earlier this year: “Everybody needs to realise that clean mobility is like organic food: it’s more expensive.”
Of course he may be talking rubbish hoping that PSA will be able to make profits out of his high price "organic food" while the Chinese and others destroy his market with cheaper offerings.

Looking for the latest on what the plans are for DACIA to enter the electric vehicle market. Haven't found anything more recent so far than this....

Dacia Exec Promises “Shockingly Affordable” Electric Car

But as the first commenter points out.....
Paul Govan • 7 months ago
Compare: The Chinese deliver low-cost EVs for real in the present tense >without< the neverending future "PR PRomises" factor that we in the "West" are expected to endure forever.
The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance may well be reshuffling itself post Carlos Ghosn, and part of it appears to want to retreat into its Japanese shell. From a corporate point of view a major selling cheap EV from DACIA may not be that desirable and is probably the reason it hasn't happened.

Some interesting speculation in the comments on the merits/revival of the i-MiEV, and a maybe rebadging/upgrading under the DACIA brand.

Meanwhile China are doing it already with Great Wall ORA R1 — An Electric Car With ~140 Miles Of Range For Less Than $10,000

Presumably, to legally drive an electric car in the UK, all you need is an Automatic licence, as they are two-pedal 'no gears' ? Could lead to a significant reduction in Full licence holders in the coming years...?

But, as they don't change gear, are they not a single gear manual?
