Hi guys, first post sorry to jump in, need advice
Ive just rebuilt the front driver corner on my 2011 C3 for MOT. Its the 8HR engine FYI. For the repair i changed the spring and had a local garage rebuild the strut. Changed the driveshaft for a Q-drive shaft
https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citr ... c2a&000113
replaced the tie rod and replaced the drop link.
However upon getting it all together tonight ready for a trip to garage tomorrow, i note with some worry that, while jacked up, the anti roll bar is rubbing quite a lot against the gaiter of the new drive shaft :/ Every search ive done on the shaft says its fine for my model, so im wondering if ive cocked up something else to create the issue! ill be honest im confident and have an excellent amount of tools, but i am inexperienced and i just dont know what im looking for, could it be that the garage didnt torque up the top mount nut enough? is my droplink on wrong (does it attach or separate the anti roll from the strut?), is the driveshaft just plain wrong? help!
A

A photo of the problem would be helpful.

Have you got pictures where it mounts at the top and bottom, or from slightly further away?

Pop your VIN up here so we can check the parts that you are supposed to have. Driveshafts can vary between models in the range and engine type. It’s also well known third party databases are very poor for correct parts....

I would (after checking to see if it is needed) trim the excess thread from that bolt on the clamp. It won't help with the problem you currently have, but may prevent one occurring in the future.

Re: Help! Changed driveshaft and CV boot rubbing on anti roll
Ok, so just to confirm the official part numbers - BUT - there are 2 different types of driveshaft for the left and right hand sides. Eurocarparts are totally useless on a good day and I note they do not show the 2 different options! They only show one part. So I would be a bit dubious about that to start with.
Front right driveshaft is: 9801388680 or 3273WS for an exchange part from Citroen. Item 2 in the diagram. Item 1 is for the left hand side and that is part number 9801388580
Anti Roll Bar:
All that aside, you say you have "rebuilt the front corner". Has this been in a prang? Are you sure there wasn't any other structural damage if that's the case that is causing the misalignment?

Re: Help! Changed driveshaft and CV boot rubbing on anti roll
How does it compare with the other side? Are both the drop links the same length?

Re: Help! Changed driveshaft and CV boot rubbing on anti roll
@Givemeabreak : it cant be the wrong side as the lengths are vastly different if that is what you are saying? But it is a thicker shaft with a thicker CV gaiter, so im just wondering if the specs are just no good for this configuration :/ Not been in prang, failed MOT on broken spring/cv boot rip/bad track rod and advisory on the drop link, so i did the lot
Drop link matches the one i took out for length. Have been to pick up a CV joint cone from motorfactors as i had initially ordered the boot kit but thought id splash on the full shaft...Guess i might need to recondition the old one for the MOT

Re: Help! Changed driveshaft and CV boot rubbing on anti roll
I was just pointing out that when I did a search by your vehicle and year / engine on the ECP site from scratch, that they did not offer a choice of left or right driveshaft - so that would have me running in the opposite direction.
The parts I've listed are from Citroen using your VIN - so these will be the right part numbers - but I would avoid ECP like the plague TBH, horror stories abound from members here including my own experience.

Thanks for that, i was recommended that part by a Mod on the c3owners forum so i guess i never questioned it, i think safest bet would be to reboot and reinstall the oem drive shaft for now i can prob return the Q-drive anyway. What a pain.

Re: Help! Changed driveshaft and CV boot rubbing on anti roll
Do you have the original one to compare with as a matter of interest - something does seem awry despite ECP's talent for dodgy parts. There are part number differences between the different engines for the driveshafts.
If you need the official procedure for changing these let me know and I'll post it here.
