Berlingo alarm module

Post by Sevy15 »

Hi
Any ideas where I can find alarm module on a 2005 citroen berlingo ?
I can't get key fob to sync, inside bsi I get permanent fault communication fault with the alarm ecu.
Thanks

VIN please....

But most likely in the same place as many of these - under the left side windscreen wiper scuttle, where the wiper motors are - that's where it is indicated. Requires removing trim and weatherproof strips to get to the wiper motors and should be bolted on there.

The alarm module won't have anything to do with the key fob though. That is handled separately. The fob transponder signal is picked up by the transponder coil in the ignition barrel and sent via the comms unit under the steering wheel to the BSI and to the engine ECU for handshaking. If it wasn't working you wouldn't be able to start the vehicle.

What exactly do you mean when you say the fob isn't synchronising? The remote fob isn't locking / unlocking the vehicle?

If that's the case, have you replaced the original radio / head unit? Have you replaced a fob lately or disconnected the battery? If so have you followed the battery connection / disconnection procedure:

BSI Rest / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

If we had some more details - and also the fault code we might be able to help further.

vin:VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
problem is i can't get remote locking to work with fob, works fine with key. bsi shows it's getting a unidentified signal ( using lexia) when pressing fob buttons. I have had had to fit new radio to which I programmed vin number into. ??

If this happened after you replaced the radio then that could be your issue. These are multiplexed Head Units that provide other functionality. If you are replacing it with a non multiplexed unit, you need to de-install the radio using Lexia and then add a special adapter harness for the new radio - failure to do so will likely cause electrical issues on the multiplexed network (which other ECUs on the data network access).

If you have the original head unit, I suggest replacing this first, do a battery disconnect and reconnect procedure and then take it from there.

Follow the guide exactly for the procedure:

viewtopic.php?f=51&t=61997

The resynchronisation procedure for your vehicle is as follows:
  • Put the High Frequency key to be synchronised in position "ignition +"
  • Within the next 10 seconds, press one of the HF key buttons
  • Release the HF key button

Ok, so which Head unit did you put in it - as the ECU may need configuring for the vehicle. If you have a Lexia, I should be able to go through the settings for you based on your VIN. The original unit fitted to the vehicle was an RB3 unit (with cassette!). Anyway, see how you get on after the reset.
