Mysterious connector in and faulty(?) ignition coil XM V6 ES9J4

Does anyone have idea whats this connector and what does it do? Picture is a bit unclear, but it is placed above ignition coil top of valve cover. I just took off the "engine cover plate" when i was about to change spark plugs and this connector just fell apart, didn't really need to even touch it. That plastic is really brittle.

Btw, what do you think, could this little crack in middle of ignition coil affect spark? Thats pretty much only defect i found in coil. Car runs good and sounds good, i just happened to have bad emissions(high CO while and HC) and i already changed catalytic converter, spark plugs and lambda sensor. So either i have vacuum leak somewhere or bad spark.

I think that the connector is just an interference suppressor and not of great importance.

It is common for the coil packs to develop cracks. The presence of a crack does not predict imminent failure, I had one that survived 150000 miles with worse cracks. I sold that car and within weeks it failed for the new owner.
When they fail, you will know because the engine will run extremely roughly and be almost undrivable.
I have always kept a spare coil pack, but have never needed to use it.

Any help? These are the engine wiring harnesses, depending on what electrical architecture you have. A VIN would narrow it down further.

Yes, i tried to pin point with VIN what it could be, but didn't really get far. All images just refer to "engine wiring", and do not mention that certain connector. Oh well, So i just assume it is what Xantia_v6 and stickyfinger told, because it doesn't affect how engine runs in any way. :D
Just funny how brittle that connector is. Like "electricity burned" it or something like that.
