That'll be an old Can-Am Bombardier motorcycle :) The military ones were first used by the MOD from the late 70s. I think they kept them in service for about 10 years before replacing them with the MT500.

Yes, you would hardly believe it that from its former status and variety, the UK motorcycle industry couldn’t make a decent bike for the MOD’s requirements by the time the 1970’s arrived. Canadian with an Austrian Engine.

Plenty of two stroke smoke as they headed off on their jaunt :-D

One of these may have made an appearance on here before - I came across this on eBay. It's one of those French 'voiture sans permis' cars, which I think translates as death-trap on wheels.
So... what is it ?
death-trap on wheels 1 - ebay, fair use

Literally was just about to post this! Similar lines. Now if the wife of the Count was unconscious she would be the full moniker of the beast!

Thanks Bobins nice to have one to do myself :-D

I have found the listing but should others want to puzzle over it for a while I will come up with an obscure coded message if I can, to delay the reveal.

If Dracula had taken a French bride of diminutive stature, that would have been a very appropriate car for her.

Presumably why there are castors fitted on the front corners....very reassuring!

Was it from Pye's failed attempt to get into the Espresso machine market ? They bought a license to manufacture these ? :-D

I do believe the radio is a "PYE T.C.R.1000X car radio, all valve, with one early power transistor on the back - & it proudly says "transistor" on the front panel". Our radio experts may confirm my suspicions.

At least 2 of the forum's regular contributors have had the whatsthisthen? model in their fleet as some stage, and the car is up for auction in the next week or so.

I fitted a lot of those Pye radios back in the fifties, they were far superior to the Ekco and Phillips stuff on sale at the time.

My first glance at the picture said Hillman with that clock and radio but I can't recall a Hillman with those heater knobs.

The dash looks VW Beetle but they wouldn't have had a Smiths clock unless it was a diy add on.

Well that has to be a Westminster Neil but I'm blowed if I recognise the heater controls, I must be slipping. :(
