Just re insured my 2011 C5.
Letter in the post estimated quote of £307
Online quote with same Company said £348
Using compare the market website paid £275 & get £20 fuel voucher!! (Confused was more))

Did you read the small print?

Some crafty companies cut the premium by top slicing the benefits.

Yep, same cover, same price, the only thing I lost was price cap for 3 years, so after 3 years if I have paid less than £279 extra, in total, then I am a winner, but I take your point.

makes a change, I've stopped bothering with the Meerkat coz they're always Dearer for me than MoneySupermarket or Confused. Goes to show, different folks, different strokes.

Fairly recently I was most miffed that Lloyds (my previous insurer) required a £25 'Admin Fee' for my change of Address. I was NOT amused, this being over 2months worth of premium for me. I ensured that they didn't get my business again more recently at renewal time

They all tend to charge for any amendment now, and £25 is about the standard rate. They never used to - but as premiums have actually been coming down (for everyone I know, anyway), they probably have to charge for it now.
