French supplier of repair panels for Mk. 1 Renault Master

Post by jamescarruthers »

Hello everyone, I am a user of the BX, XM and C6 clubs and have never said hello here. I only have the C6 now and a Volvo 480.

So, hello!

Jumping straight in to my problem, I have a Renault Master Mk. 1 which has rusty sills under the front door steps, in fact one side is just sculpted filler from what I can tell. Whilst this is only an advisory at the moment, I would like to get it sorted as I am quite attached to my old Camper. I'm probably in the minority here but I think the original Master is a handsome beast!!

I believe I need what is known as a door step sill repair panel. I have tried all the places that come up on eBay whilst searching around the subject. Unsurprisingly, it isn't available new and the places that keep NOS body panels were helpful but didn't have anything for a Master.

I am wondering if maybe there will be a French supplier of old repair panels that anyone can direct me to. Maybe over there I will have more luck?

If not, it'll just get made up afresh, but a chop-out/weld-in section would be great.

I agree in that the old Master is a distinctive looking van & I love it for that, would love a camper based on it rather than the 3 or 4 smaller Trafic-based ones round here of the required age to be of interest! I think it might end up being a case of making up a repair section, although perhaps checking on Leboncoin and other French selling sites might be of use.

I can't help with French companies but this company in Gloucester is one I've dealt with for many years and I note that they have Renault Master in their parts search list/online catalogue.

Hello everyone. I am now going to sell Renne the Renault. Forgive me for just coming back to post an advert, but I really hope this old French van finds a home. It is mechanically very good but will need lots of welding for its next MOT in July.

Looks like a spacious Beasty and I quite like the styling and how unusual it is (don't think I've ever noticed a Mk1 Master Motorhome before)

right up my street really (I'm not about to get my Wallet out though). Hope it finds a good home.

Sold! I thought I would struggle but there was a lot of interest. I think I probably sold him a little to cheap but at least he's gone to an enthusiastic guy who will get the welding done.

Thanks for your kind words Puxa :-)

2nd only to the H-van in character & usable space - but much more affordable.

Strangely enough, earlier in the year, there was just such a device (only it looked more like a new-age traveller's living van converted, as it was, from a "reefer" -just think of the benefit of all that insulation) parked along the stretch of the Dartmouth Road outside Paignton (where the kerbside car sales are) which also suffered badly from tin-worm, but in the the rear wheel arches &, curiously, - the back bumper!
