Yep, 4 terminals on mine.

As I said earlier from your photos it's clear that yours has a pump, here's a picture of the actual pump but it's still a mystery because all the Citroen literature says it should not on that model or with that VIN.
This advert though offers it for your engine (and my) type.

I note that your send unit has a beige top and looks very clean, both of which would indicate that it is not the original unit.

Having a pump installed in a system which did not originally have one does not explain why the engine now will not start, but does explain why primer bulbs occasionally explode.

Perhaps there is something else in the circuit before the high pressure pump that has become dislodged or malformed with the unexpected pressure and is now causing a blockage?

I'm wondering if it is actually used or powered - they may well have fitted these to use up stocks from the DW12TED4 models.... but certainly the VIN states without pump and that is what you would get from the dealer if booking in for a replacement.

But the op does say earlier that it pumps when he switches on with a pipe disconnected so it must be powered.

I'd guess that it's a replacement pump from somewhere that doesn't know the difference.

Yes I’d agree with that and as Mike says it looks too new to be original

Just been talking to my son (remember it's his car) and he tells me that (unbeknown to me) he replaced the sender/pump unit last year. Car stopped and AA patrol told him that the fuel pump had burnt out. He replaced like for like. Ran for several thousand miles until recent problem. Still don't know of course if this was as per original build. Mike.

Might be worth posting some pics of the engine Mike. Maybe other members can do comparisons to their own.

I think you have your answer then - as we've said, this engine ( DW10BTED4) and specifically from your VIN had a gauge without pump. That's why we ask for the VIN. So as said it looks like it has been replaced with a different unit with a pump and connected up.
