Hello from the Czech Republic

A forum for new members to introduce themselves to the rabble already onboard. Not compulsory!
Tell us a little about yourself, lie if you have to but keep it to just an introduction, not a car discussion.

Hello from the Czech Republic

Post by mcduff »

Just to introduce myself. A Dutchman long-term residing and working in the Czech Republic in a non-profit. In the family, we have several French cars, some of them I bought in the Netherlands second hand -cheaper- and brought to here. Currently driving a 10 year old C5 Tourer, new type. Also in the family a 1993 Peugeot 306 and a 2004 Peugeot 307 SW with 450 000 km on the counter and still going strong. Before that, BX and Xantia. Before that Volvo (up to the 240s series) and Saab (93, 96, 99).

And as hobby and childhood dream, I have my own truck, an 1965 ex-military Kaiser Jeep Corporation vehicle. Don't let the "Jeep" designation fool you, this is a 6x6 5-ton Dump Truck w/w. The 5 ton designation is load under fire in terrain. According the Dutch DoT, the permissible GVW is 42 metric tons. :).

The main reason for showing up here: my C5 has problems (depollution system faulty) and there are no Czech C5 forums I can turn to, at least none that I understand, since Czech is a very hard language.

Hi and welcome.

Put any of your C5 queries that you can't find an answer for in the Citroen Forum. There are plenty of posts about the issue, but if you have a specific query please make a new post and include your VIN number in the first post so we can ascertain exact specs, engine type and options fitted. The VIN will be automatically masked except to staff.

One more welcome!
Just googled the Kaiser-Jeep 5-ton 6x6. Gosh! Makes a Unimog look positively dinky.
I guess there is no problem with this on lumpy roads, as it will actually flatten the bumps! \:D/

Look forward to future posts, and a few photos.

Chris, I thought that beast would go everywhere. However, when moving it around my son's blacksmith workshop, I got onto the meadowy - peaty area around the shop which was soaked. Got about 30 feet, then I was stuck completely. Turned out that with faulty breaks, my front wheels did not engage and got stuck. The back wheels alone could not push the 22 000 lbs up to the dry ground and just spinned in the mud . So dry hilly ground with full 6x6: ok. very wet and muddy ground with only back 4x4: not so good.
