Re: Clutch issue
normally if goes into first gear with engine off and won't/hard to when engine is running is clutch not clearing/dragging as drive isn't disengaging properly so still trying to turn.
One thing that can cause it is the spigot bearing failing as supports other end of input shaft.
One to watch when A N other Bellend puts clutch in and hangs the gearbox so ruins that small bearing and damages first motion shaft bearing with is just a single ball race used to get it often with company vans that Dear mechanic had "fixed" also when was taxi'ing years back others would have a clutch done then moan about gears with many saying your box is faulty"yeah wasn't till you broke it" characterised by same issues your having and yes can get also with thrust race failing but normally when getting to that stage it's not lasting long! With pedal down do you feel anything through pedal? often get a pulsing feel

Re: Clutch issue
No when i press the pedal i feel nothing, its completely normal. This is an intermittent problem, now its been 3 days and its shifting fine haha. BuT sometimes it comes a day and its a nightmare to shift gears.
I adjustedthe clutch high pedal travel is 150mm, its beter now, when it was adjusted to be the same height as the brake pedal,it was a nightmare to shift

Which would imply it isn't/wasn't disengaging the clutch properly

Re: Clutch issue
Today it was difficult to shift again even with the clutch adjusted higher. Im pretty sure this is a bad clutch as everything else is new. I checked all the linkages and the clutch fork all is straight and not bent.
The clutch fork on top of the gearbox has the pin standing out of the hole. But its flush on the other side also so i think that its because the pin is bigger than the hole so it stands out more on one side

Re: Clutch issue
Today i went out to see the gear kinkages, when i was checking i found that a bracket attached to the gearbox that has a ball joint for the gear linkage on it, the welding has come away and its bent. Its the lower one(the small linkage) , can this cause my symptoms?

I'm puzzled! The selector shaft is way above the transmission oil level. I wouldn't have thought the oil would splash sufficiently to leak.

Re: Clutch issue
So, i tried everything, greased the linkages, put a new roll pin on the upper selector arm, gearstick has very little play, was fine for two weeks, problem ia back, reverse grinds like hell, very hard to shift in 1st and 2nd too. I think i will book it to a garage for a clutch replacement

Since you last posted at the beginning of May, I've got a new clutch and a replacement gearbox fitted into my 1.5 Saxo. It's made a world of difference.
