Citroen C5X7 2011 MY11 - Remote Key Problem

Post by ozzdownunder »

Hi, I have a spare key that I have replaced a new battery in and tested if it worked. Seems it will not lock/unlock anything. Car starts ok no problems there. Tried my normal key and it works fine, tried another batt just in case but no changes. Any ideas or if it needs resetting. If so what is the procedure to do this.

Is the spare key a replcement aftermarket job?

If so, and if it does not have the correct frequency or circuitry, then none of the remote functions will work. It should not affect the transponder part of the function, as that will be energised from the transponder coil in the ignition barrel when the key is inserted.

He says it starts the car no problems Marc so sounds like it's his old spare and it just needs the lock/unlock resynching.

Put the key into the ignition.
Press either lock or unlock button and keep it pressed in.
Keeping the button pressed in turn the key to the first position - do NOT start the car.
Keep the button pressed in for a further 5 - 10 seconds and then release.
Take the key out and it should then lock and unlock the car.

Yes you can try resynchronising the remote: The procedure you have put up is not the correct one though Paul.

Correct Procedure for X7
  • Switch on the ignition using the key whose remote control is to be resynchronised
  • Press one of the transmitter buttons within 10 seconds of the appearance of ignition+
I think you are referring to the procedure that is used when the remote control fob is replaced or when an additional fob is programmed. That procedure is the following:
  1. Switch off the ignition and take out the key
  2. Wait one minute without pressing the buttons of any remote control
  3. But a key into the ignition switch, move it to ignition positive (+ APC)
  4. Within 10 seconds, press the locking button for 5 seconds
  5. Switch off the ignition and take out the key
  6. Repeat the procedure with the other keys from point N°3, otherwise move on to point N°7
  7. Wait 30 seconds, the remote controls are active
