Coleford Carnival

Post by Gibbo2286 »

A very busy show, lovely day.
I though I'd experiment with my dash cam, plugged it into a battery pack and carried it around the show, got a lot of nice shaky videos of people and the sky and the roofs of the exhibits. :x
Must try harder!

Met Pug_XUD_KeenAmateur there but had to leave before him, he seemed content with the outing.

Had a look at a flickr album taken at the carnival

Did you see this 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Landaulette
https://www.flickr.com/photos/classicca ... 007815838/

looks a lot different from when it was sold at auction by Christies in 2005

Yes I saw that Neil and had a chat with the owner, a couple of places behind it was the old Citroen used by a local wedding hire company, didn't get a picture this time but it's in my album from last year.

Super day out thanks Gibbo, thanks for the heads up on this; t'was nice to catch up with you. I'll certainly be back for future years' Carnivals.

To anyone else who's maybe able to get there in future years, I recommend it: there was something for all tastes, with some well-used vehicles among the shiny stuff, and often owners on hand to chat with and learn the stories behind the vehicles. I'd also forgotten how pleasant a place the nearby Forest of Dean is and Littledean Jail is worth a visit too.

The Dagonet 2CV was particularly relevant to the FCF, I thought. My favourites included a patinated NSU Prinz and a lime green metallic Cortina Mk2 Estate.

Looks like there was another 1928 Rolls Royce 20HP at Coleford. Same colour different reg.
Quite a few nice interior shots here when it sold

Now could you remember which levers to activate to get it going?

The Parrys were a prominent family at St Briavels and still there although a bit depleted now, the village garage and petrol station was run by them.

My daughter in the USA is still friends with Belinda P from their school days back in the sixties.

The red Citroen above got a note in the local rag, it's said to be a replica though.
