Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Well done Citroen. You have chosen a piece of music for your advert which pricked up my ears!

That advert is the best Citroen have done for a while, but I cant think of too many memorable adverts that Citroen have made for their cars.

This thread had a few examples of varying quality but Citroen never hit the yuppie heights of Renault with the Renault 25 adverts, or your Thierry Henry's va va voom or even Volkswagen with this a long forgotten classic

So which Citroen's were selected.....and which were left out.....no DS and no Traction Avant....

Apparently the Ad has 30/45/ and 60 second variants. (yes our youtube clip must be the full works and more (1.35!))

Anyone know the locations? Little clue...it ain't France. Wonder if they have been accurate with the reg plate of the Mehari which may give a clue even if you dont recognise the scenery.

^^^Dont like that at all, whereever it came from. My view very bad taste. Would prefer if it was removed.

Satire is a bugger ain't it...

edit:
Not bothered much if it is removed, I would rather not upset people.

Appreciated Alasdair, others may feel differently from me but, timing today of all days, is perhaps not the most sensitive for a satire on that subject.

Any way, back to the matter in hand I'll tie up a loose end I posed on the Take the long way home advert

The cars were 2CV, Type H, Méhari, CX, Visa GTi, New C3 Aircross, and New C4 Cactus hatchback, before he gets a glimpse of the future in the form of the CXPERIENCE concept car.

and it was filmed in the Sierra Nevada and Barcelona, Spain,

I think the message was fun, fun, fun . . . so family and exec transport just got left out.
Ironically, it was one of these that probably saved Citroen's bacon, not least in the UK: the BX.

Pop over to POTD Chris and see if you can identify the "dam" the car drives across in the ad which could well be somewhere in the Sierra Nevada or around Barcelona!

Bit of a clunky tag line at the end?

I tried yesterday to locate the dam thing, but no success.
Pouring with rain here, so will have another go.

Some of the early 1970’s adverts for Citroen were quite clever - but they preceded the video stuff. I used to have a van and cannot remember where I got these from. I will have to try and dig out some of the others from old brochures I have.
By the way have you ever tried to listen to music when trolling in a 2cv!!!?
