New boy on the block tool

Post by Subsonicnat »

Was out doing thr rounds on one of my Market Stalls and was shown a NEW To Me,
RACHET SOCKET HANDLE..
It consisted of the normal Ratcheting,FORWARDS/BACKWARDS,BUT,,
Here is the Neat Bit, You DO NOT Use it like a conventional Ratchet handle,
YOU TWIST THE HANDLE,And Ratchet Turns left or right, YES,You may have to RELEASE IT in the Normal Fasion, bit of Grunt,But, Once undone you turn the HANDLE,So you can undo or do up those awkward bolts or Nuts where you have no room to use the conventional Ratchet handle..
I thought it was quite clever,Didn't buy it as it was £35:00. But logged it,JUST IN CASE..
DID BUY A RATCHET ONE That had 1/2" / 3/8" /1/4" and screw driver socket on the same Ratchet,,Very Clever ALL SIZES COVERED,,,BRILLIANT....1 TOOL FITS ALL.
Bought it £15:00..

I have seen these many years ago. The ones I saw looked too flimsy to be of any real world use.

Hi Homer,
Well the one I saw was of the same quality as the ones you buy as a standard ratchet type,Would be great for the fiddly bolts you cannot get too,get them started or undone. The quaurter turn merchants, may get one next month, too good to NOT BUY ONE REALLY.
DOCTLE : Will get a picture up for you mate,in fact will post pictures of BOTH.
I know the bloke very well so will take a picture of it,Will post the one I bought on this post though.. If you seriously want one DOCTLE after seeing the picture I will if you post the monies to me,I will Buy it and post to you,I see you are in Ireland,,,No problem though.. Colin.
The Smaller Ratchet is my 3/8 Standard I use,Just for comparison only.

A useful addition to any Toolbox, along with a shortened Ratchet and a set of Ratchet Spanners

This seems to be the consensus feedback view of their products.

"Cheap Nielsen tools are sold by traders at car boot sales and market sellers mainly for diy purposes. the odd thing might be of some use but its generally cheap tat so any one buying can't expect a Rolls Royce for the price of a mini."

Maybe they're hanging on to the good reputation of the US company Lie Nielson.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

As Stated earlier, I jus want to use it to "Start" the threads on the bolts that canno tbe turned by normal methods,Had a Bolt on a "Frontera manifold" ,left it out in the end.
this could have got it started , Then 1/4 turns to tighten.
would not use it to torque the bolts up,it has a very fine teeth so hopefully get it going on the threads,, couldn`t get fingers in to get it started, even the misses hands were too big..
it willnot eat anything now i have it..

That might be true... My 3/4" impact is one of my favourite tools now, saved me hours of sweating wrestling with subframe bolts and the like! The mechanical aspect of the rear beam swap on a 206 can be complete within 25 minutes if the brake lines play fair & that includes the time to jack & support the thing! I remember the first time removing one with a bar & it took ages and I was soaked with sweat and had dust in my eyes.
